The Spark is easily one of the best portable drones available right now. Despite the fact that it can’t shoot 4K video like some of its competitors, it outshines the competition in just about every other regard.
-
+
Tons of intelligent flight modes, Obstacle avoidance, Two-axis gimbal stabilization, Ultracompact form factor, Excellent flight performance
-
-
No 4K camera, Average flight time

The DJI Spark is a $500 palm-size gesture-controlled selfie drone for the masses, but it's hampered by short flying time and an app that could be easier to use.
-
+
Small. Supports gesture controls. Smartphone-controlled flight. Automated shots. Subject tracking. Forward obstacle avoidance. GPS stabilization. Safety features, including return-to-home.
-
-
Battery nets about 12 minutes of flight time. Limited range and speed when controlling with phone. Video limited to 1080p. No support for 24fps or high frame rate capture. App and video editing features could be easier to use. Dedicated remote control is a pricey add-on.

The DJI Spark delivers all of the camera drone features most people will ever need in an impossibly small package.
-
+
The DJI Spark delivers a tiny, lightweight design; excellent mechanically stabilized camera; USB charging and advanced features like gesture controls and obstacle detection. It travels well and is great for aerial photos and video.
-
-
Flight time can be as short as 10 to 14 minutes. The app can be frustrating to use, especially on smaller screens. And you should expect to buy batteries and possibly the optional controller.

The DJI Spark is a useful drone, easy to transport and with enormous versatility thanks to its control. It’s a great drone to get you started in the world of piloting or for video-enthusiasts.
-
+
Lightweight, Easy to control, Very stable, Gesture control, Follow mode, Phone-less selfies, Avoid obstacles, Solid build
-
-
Limited smartphone control, Expensive remote, Expensive drone, Video up to 1080p 30fps, Battery life, Noisy
![]() |
While pricey, the DJI Spark is the company’s smallest and least expensive drone, and can be controlled using nothing but your hand.
-
+
Small and portable, Easy to fly, Stable, clear video, Autonomous flight modes
-
-
Still expensive for most, Gesture controls not always recognized, No 4K video

Time for the big question. If you are in the market for a compact drone, is the DJI Spark one you should consider buying? If the app worked as it should, my answer would be a resounding yes. However, with all its issues, my answer is a more hesitant maybe, and even that maybe comes with asterisks.

+
Portable sizeIf you've spent any time with the Mavic, or Phantom, you'll be shocked by just how minuscule the Spark is., Impact sensorsFront and underside impact sensors work pretty well at keeping the Spark from crashing into the ground or large, stationary objects, Durability and build quality...
-
-
Android ApplicationThe app's functionality and polish is excellent, its stability (on Android at least) is not. Frequent app crashes while tethered to a $500 drone is not acceptable., Battery lifeThe manual says a battery will last 15 minutes, but it's more like 10-12.

The DJI Spark is one of the best budget drones out there and is a lot of fun to fly. It’s not perfect, but it’s a really neat toy.
-
+
The Spark is small, affordable, and portable yet impressively capable, ActiveTrack and QuickShots are really neat + video quality is pretty good at 1080p30, Easy to use with plenty of obstacle avoidance features + Return-to-Home, Can fly drone only using gesture controls
-
-
Short battery life at ~15 minutes on a single charge, Gimbal is only 2-axis, whereas more expensive drones like the MAVIC Pro use a 3-axis stabilizer, Would love to have 1080p60 for fast-moving subjects, Does not handle winds well, Does not come with a remote controller…you have to use gesture...

The DJI Spark offers you what most drones can’t do, and that is convenience – all in the palm of your hands. You can set up and fly, all within a few minutes.
-

Lightweight, Convenient
-
-
Could have a better camera

There is not much more to say about this new drone, at least on the surface of it all. We have plenty more coverage on the way, further exploration into what makes the DJI Spark great, or where we see room for improvement. Stay tuned for that.

DJI wowed the crowds when they pulled the wraps off the Mavic Pro in September last year. It was the smallest drone by the famed manufacturer at that time. Capable of shooting clear and crips 4K video, it was aimed towards enthusiasts and filmmakers alike.
The drone itself is a great way to get into drone flying. It's small, great for travel. Hand-launching and landing is nice to avoid rough patches of ground, as this drone settles on its belly. You can buy aftermarket landing gear, but I don't recommend adding extra weight.
1. "Priority Line" shipping to germany wihtout any issues. 2. Great product for great price. 3. No issue with the activation of the product. BTW ... when doing the activation the spark needs to be outside to receive the GPS signal. Otherwise the registration will fail. 4.

No cons at all. Very difficult to write more than 30 characters for this section as i have really nothing to complain about.
it's a fun product and very portable. The only reason I give 4 star instead of 5 is that spark has hidden cost (the controller). In my opinion, the controller is like a "required" thing to have, whether you buy it sooner or later. So, if you want a spark, plan on spend more for the controller.
A must for flying the Spark. Best purchased as part of the fly more package.
-
+
Easily pairs with and operates the Spark.
-
-
Won't work with larger (iPad, etc.) devices.
overall this is a very good drone replaces my parriot drone i had which is double the size almost.
-
+
small, light, propeller wings snap on, wings can fold together to save a liitle room, easy to control & can do some jedi palm control thing, without using your cell or touch pad.
-
-
I wish it came with a controller to fly it more than 120 ft & a extra battery 1 is not enough.
If larger drones intimidate you or are too expensive, then the Spark is for you. I purchased a Mavic Pro, first. I know, kind of went in the opposite direction that most drone owner would take. However, I wanted to see if the Spark lived up to all the advertised hype.
For some reason the batteries dont last as long
The toy is awesome, the video has great quality
The instructions aren't clear, youtube some instructional videos
