I bought these binoculars because they were recommended in a "backyard astronomy" book. And they didn't disappoint. Comparing with other much cheaper binoculars I had, you can tell the difference immediately. You could see groups of stars the bare naked eye can't.
The SkyMaster DX 8x56 is outstanding for handheld astronomical viewing. The large objectives bring in a lot of light, and the low magnification keeps shakiness to a minimum (of course, bracing the binocular or viewing from a reclined position is best).
Best Value! The Celestron 8X56 Ultima DX Binoculars are the best piece of equipment an amateur astronomer can own. I've owned a few binos and must say these are my favorites. Light, sharp and bright.
Great for bird watching and hiking. A little heavy but worth the weight
Ive bought and collected many binoculars for work, my boats, and friends. These interested me because of the 56mm end bells. I thought Id get a little more light gathering for star gazing. I compared these to the Nikon 7x50 Action Extremes, the Nikon 8x40 Action Extremes and these 8x56 SkyMaster DX.
I bought this binocular for my husband for his birthday. BIG hit! Obviously the right choice. He loves them and loves the sight on them.
Well constructed. However, I had to return them due to my low IPD. The system blocks at 5.8 cm. I need approx. 5.6 cm. Also, who really has an exit pupil of 56/8 = 7 mm and buy these at that price (a 20 year old ?).
The 8x56 never arrived but I was offered the Celestron 9x63 instead which has equal exit pupil capabilities and more magnification for the same price. Overall I'm happy with the deal
Awesome Binoculars! Works beautifully for star gazing as long as you have it attached to a tripod. I bought the Celestron Tripod adaptor which works very well. So far I have been able to view the Moon in many phases, Jupiter and its large moons, and numerous star clusters.
It is for someone in Trinidad, getting thewre soon, thanks
