My expectations were really high after reading the reviews but still it was difficult to accept that such an inexpensive telescope could deliver excellent results. It has surpassed my expectations.I would recommend the celestron or meade 8-24mm zoom eyepiece.
I recommend this scope. The main telescope and tripod is good quality. Just be prepared to by better lenses.
Affordable, easy to set up, great resolution with right lenses, helpful software.
Lenses included with telescope are poor quality. Finderscope is cheap.
Everything was well presented to put together and set up. Useful for sky watching for the price. The Celestron Starry Night software is a marvelous side benefit great simulation and very detailed down to Cassini, asteriods if it is known it is there.
If you are expecting to get Hubble quality images, you won't. If you are expecting to get a finely, hand crafted, precision instrument, you don't. However, it is a fine scope for the money. The mount is a bit sloppy. The tripod a little wobbly.
The telescope comes with a counter weight that is way too heavy. I am using one only a fraction of the weight so I do not strip the gears in the equatorial alt -azimuth mount. The screw holes in the mount were too small and I had to do some light fabrication to make them larger.
As an amateur astronomer, a beginner. I require assistance in setting up and using this scope. I knew this from the beginning. Am joining a star gazer group for moral and technical help. I found out that my telescope is stronger than what most have now. Plus it's motor drive adaptable.
It's a bird Jones. Celestron did cut way too many corners with this scope and here is a poor quality product. Not only eq mount will annoy new starters, when they learn how to use, they will get fuzzy images and regret.Watch YouTube review of Ed Ting for this scope. That should tell enough.
You can find no second choice with this price range for a 127mm tube with 1000mm focus length. If that is what bring you here, think again.Generally speaking, Celestron laid. This is not a newtonian telescope, but a "Bird Jone's" style.
It arrived today and I was extremely excited to assemble it for my kids. It took me forever to assemble it and then I really did not know how it functioned.
We were looking forward to use this telescope, but it was not like we expected it.First of all, it is hard to align with objects. For example, we tried to see the moon with this telescope, a fairly large object in the sky, but it took 1.5 hours to just align! Let alone other objects in the sky.
