I had my eye this camera for over a year with its dual card slots, dual pixel focus, its hdr recording mode and mp4 format it was everything in needed in a small camcorder, xlr audio inputs and control.. and the ability to shoot in 4k should i need it.
If you are a professional videographer looking for a camera, this is not for you! All of your settings (including your iris and shutter settings) are in the touch screen menu and not built in on the physical camera making it incredibly difficult to use for run and gun work or b-roll outdoors.
it is too small need to bring back an updated version of the XL models essentially a real prosumer camera that is closer to an eng. This is nice for the non professional so don't get me wrong. It is a good camera. But, I still love my XL H1A with a DTE recorder.
Order fell through a second time so I ordered camcorder from somewhere else
It's back to the beginning for me. I started years ago filming with the venerable Canon GL1. From there I moved to ever better performing camcorders like the Panasonic DVX 100 and latter the Canon XF300.
I just replaced 3 XA25 with 3 XF400, mostly because of the 4K - 1 sensor. The image quality is really good and appreciate a lot that you can modify the iris, shutter, exposure while filming.
At first, I loved this camera. After a few months it stays in the bag and I reach for the XF100. I shoot one-man-band doc work and interview-heavy portfolio pieces, for corporate and higher education. In my application, XF100 outperforms the xf400.
Need to buy a batter charger as well.
I don't know what to say or where to start.I got 3 XF 400 camcorders and each of them had the same problemLED monitors keep showing blurry picturesIt is very confusing while doing the recording. Are the videos going to be blurry or not?I have to take a big chance while recording!!
I purchased this and returned it after about 3 weeks. I had hoped this was a true replacement to the xf300, but it is not. It is much smaller and the lens is not an L lens as you have with the xf300. I have used Canon products extensively and have never been disappointed until now.
