The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS has a lens that covers an extreme zoom range, and even though it's on the pricey side, it earns our Editors' Choice award.

  • +

65x zoom lens. 21mm wide-angle coverage. Sharp vari-angle LCD. Integrated EVF and hot shoe. 6.3fps continuous shooting. Great control layout. Framing assist function. Raw shooting support. Wi-Fi. 1080p60 video. Mic input.

  • -

    Pricey. Lacks EVF eye sensor.

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is the company's latest DSLR-styled super-zoom. Two years on from the incredibly popular SX50 HS which it replaces, the SX60 HS extends the 50x zoom range to a whopping 65x - longer than any other bridge super zoom currently available, and matched only by the Kodak AZ651.

  • +

65x optical zoom lens., 922k dot electronic viewfinder., Second control dial., Seek Assist auto feature., Focus peaking., Manual exposure in movie mode., Built-in Wifi with NFC.

  • -

No screen / EFV toggle button or sensor., No in-camera HD slomo modes., No touch screen.

With its expansive focal range, vari-angle LCD display and improved EVF the SX60 HS offers plenty of flexibility. On top of this handling is decent, and in the right conditions it’s also capable of good image quality.

  • +

Flexible focal range; Good handling; Manual control and Raw capture; EVF is much improved

  • -

Slow autofocus; Lens also slow; LCD display lacks touchscreen control; Image quality at high ISO settings; Launch price makes it expensive

Currently Canon's latest high-power zoom SX-series camera (as of 12/2014), the PowerShot SX60 HS offers an impressive 65x optical zoom lens, with a 21mm - 1365mm equivalent zoom range.

  • +

65x zoom lens is unmatched on market currently, A bit more wide angle capabilities (21 mm) than expected in large zoom camera lens, LCD is sharp and is articulated, EVF is also very sharp and easy to use, Camera's performance speeds are better than expected for a large-zoom camera, Up to 6.4 frames...

  • -

Price is high, Would expect a little better image quality in this price range, ISO range is limited to 3200, Electronic viewfinder doesn't turn on automatically when you lift camera to your eye, Extremely large and heavy camera body, No touch screen LCD, Four-way button on back of camera is very...

The SX60 is a quality mega-zoom for general use, but it stumbles when it comes to action shots or in low-light situations, especially at full telephoto. Despite the lows, it is still a highly recommend camera for those who want a one-in-all that’s perfect for travel.

14 February 2015

Canon's PowerShot SX60 HS is one of the top bridge cameras in its class thanks to improved design, useful features, excellent photos and video and -- of course -- its really wide and really long lens.

  • +

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is an all-around excellent bridge camera with a competitive zoom range, features that make it easier to use and make use of the lens and solid photo and video quality for its class.

  • -

Like most cameras in this category, the SX60 can be slow to lock focus when fully zoomed in under certain conditions. Switching between the viewfinder and display is still frustrating and there's no proximity sensor to automatically trigger the change either.

10 December 2014

A 65x optical zoom lens is a rare commodity in a fixed lens camera, so the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS already exists in rarified air. But when you also consider that the PowerShot SX60 records images at a better quality and performs faster than other ultra-zoom models that can't match this model's zoom...

Canon follows up on its award-winning flagship superzoom, but has it stretched too far?

I use a DSLR for portraiture and I have a small fast pocket camera with some manual settings that I like for street photography and when a very wide angle is needed. The bridge style cameras I reserve for landscapes and for macro work which would require a large expense to be spent on lenses in...

Poor Image Quality, Short Battery Life

3 July 2015

Great for those that don't like or can't handle the bigger cameras in Canon's lineup. Not for people with really big hands due to the size of the buttons etc.. Overall picture quality surprisingly good. With this camera you don't lack any focal lengths.

I carry the SX 60 w/me wherever I go--can quickly turn it on and be ready to use. It is light weight, so your arm doesn't get tired aiming and holding the button half way down, waiting for that perfect shot. I like that I don't have to lug lenses w/me.

Easy To Use, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Light weight

    Tripod For Digital Zoom

1 December 2014

Canon continues to cover the entire spectrum of camera equipment by offering an affordable, feature laden digital camera with a great zoom lens. It has all the features that an amateur to moderately zealous enthusiast could want in a camera for under $500: hot shoe, SD slot, 16 MP, USB port, up to...

26 January 2016

I bought this camera as a back-up to my Canon DLSR's. I thought the zoom would be great to have when I can't carry all the bulk and weight of my longer lenses. The main issue I have with this camera is that it just takes too long to focus.

26 October 2015

Absolutely love this camera. Bought it when going on vacation to New Mexico. From the Four Corners Monument to White Sands , to The International Balloon Fiesta, I took almost 1400 pictures and friends were amazed by the quality of pictures I took

Excuse my spelling, I do not know much English. The camera within its limitations is good, especially with good ambient light. The zoom is a cheap option but you can buy those expensive telephoto lenses. In low light generates digital noise, Video is fine.

14 November 2015

This camera is not for someone who is looking to just point and click. As with most cameras, Canon in particular you have a learning curve in order t
