The SX60 is a quality mega-zoom for general use, but it stumbles when it comes to action shots or in low-light situations, especially at full telephoto. Despite the lows, it is still a highly recommend camera for those who want a one-in-all that’s perfect for travel.

  • +

65x optical zoom, Quality images, decent videos, Solid LCD and EVF

  • -

Relatively poor ISO performer, Some focusing issues at extreme telephoto

Canon's PowerShot SX60 HS is one of the top bridge cameras in its class thanks to improved design, useful features, excellent photos and video and -- of course -- its really wide and really long lens.

  • +

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is an all-around excellent bridge camera with a competitive zoom range, features that make it easier to use and make use of the lens and solid photo and video quality for its class.

  • -

Like most cameras in this category, the SX60 can be slow to lock focus when fully zoomed in under certain conditions. Switching between the viewfinder and display is still frustrating and there's no proximity sensor to automatically trigger the change either.

No camera is perfect, but the PowerShot SX60 HS strikes a great balance of features, with rich color and detail in photos and video, good autofocus, an intuitive user interface, and power features like RAW image capture and mic jack.

  • +

Crisp photos and especially video, Surprisingly compact 65X zoom lens, Great on-screen controls and overall handling, Fair price, Using advanced features like RAW capture and external-mic jack can boost quality

  • -

Limited low-light performance, especially for video

The Canon Powershot SX60 HS is an impressive ultra-zoom camera, offering a huge 65x optical zoom range. Unlike many big zoom cameras, the SX60 performs pretty quickly and it creates images that are of a surprisingly good quality.

  • +

65x zoom lens is unmatched on market currently, A bit more wide angle capabilities (21 mm) than expected in large zoom camera lens, LCD is sharp and is articulated, EVF is also very sharp and easy to use, Camera's performance speeds are better than expected for a large-zoom camera, Up to 6.4 frames...

  • -

Price is high, Would expect a little better image quality in this price range, ISO range is limited to 3200, Electronic viewfinder doesn't turn on automatically when you lift camera to your eye, Extremely large and heavy camera body, No touch screen LCD, Four-way button on back of camera is very...

A 65x optical zoom lens is a rare commodity in a fixed lens camera, so the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS already exists in rarified air. But when you also consider that the PowerShot SX60 records images at a better quality and performs faster than other ultra-zoom models that can't match this model's zoom...

Canon follows up on its best superzoom, but does the SX60 HS stretch too far?

With a 65x optical zoom, raw format shooting, inbuilt Wi-Fi and NFC, this is a well equipped bridge camera with a lot to offer the enthusiast.

The Canon SX60 HS also features an improved image processor, a variant of the DIGIC 6 unit. Speed is reasonable, but not that much more. It takes around two seconds to start from cold to take your first shot, and while shooting speeds have improved since 2012’s SX50 HS, they’re not remarkable.

The battle of the bridge cameras used to be a two-horse race between the Canon SX50 HS's huge zoom and the Panasonic FZ200's constant f/2.8 aperture. However, with the Canon's focus deteriorating at the long end of its zoom, the Panasonic took a clear lead overall with its superior performance and...

The superzoom market keeps on growing, quite literally, with the latest Canon PowerShot SX60 HS boasting a gigantic 65x optical zoom lens. That's far more heavyweight than any competitor on the market, so if it's zoom you want, it's zoom you get.

  • +

Good optical image stabilisation, vari-angle LCD, image quality at middle zoom is good for its category

  • -

Problems with focus and general handling at the full zoom extension, competition from higher-end superzooms

Great little camera, really like the zoom range. One of the best features is the ability to shoot raw photos. The one drawback is raw has to be shot as a custom setting every time.

Canon continues to cover the entire spectrum of camera equipment by offering an affordable, feature laden digital camera with a great zoom lens. It has all the features that an amateur to moderately zealous enthusiast could want in a camera for under $500: hot shoe, SD slot, 16 MP, USB port, up to...

I carry the SX 60 w/me wherever I go--can quickly turn it on and be ready to use. It is light weight, so your arm doesn't get tired aiming and holding the button half way down, waiting for that perfect shot. I like that I don't have to lug lenses w/me.

Canon very generous with trying to resolve problems I am having with my SX60. It's seems when shooting long distance, the photos at times look blurry and not good or clear detail photos as to photographing wildlife. Not as clear as my SX50 ! Not sure why ?

Very easy camera to learn and take good shots at long zoom. It's supplementary to my EOS 760D which I really love but I wasn't quite ready to go with expensive long zooms

Very nice bridge camera. When I first got it, I noticed the colors were not a vivid as my previous camera, but, actually, the Canon Powershot SX60HS renders natural color. I don't always like the auto mode, because the camera chooses where to focus, which is not always where I want to focus, so I...
