The Canon EOS RP's specifications aren't exactly exciting, but don't let that fool you - it's a likable little camera with engaging controls, good build quality and it produces excellent JPEGs.

  • +

Newer users getting into full-frame for the first time, existing Canon users looking for a second camera body, anyone looking for a travel-friendly full-frame camera for casual use.

  • -

Those looking to shoot high quality video, power users who want the most out of their Raw files, and those who routinely shoot fast action and need faster burst speeds.

Canon wants to bring full-frame photography to the masses with the affordable EOS RP. It's a solid camera for the price, but Canon needs to release more low-cost RF-mount lenses to pair with it.

  • +

Compact body with full-frame sensor., Vari-angle LCD., Integrated EVF., Quick, accurate autofocus., Macro stacking and time-lapse tools., Wi-Fi., Attractive price.

  • -

Small EVF., Low-cost native lenses not available yet., Inconsistent face and eye detection., 4K video suffers from heavy crop., Sensor shows limited dynamic range., Small battery., No built-in flash.

The Canon EOS RP is the most affordable new full frame camera to date, whether DSLR or mirrorless. It gives you the 26 Megapixel sensor from the 6D Mark II, delivering attractive JPEGs out-of-camera, a fully-articulated touchscreen that’s ideal for vlogging, microphone and headphone jacks, and...

Despite its billing as a full-frame camera for the masses, the affordable Canon EOS RP can be a very able performer when used to its full potential. It’s a good example of a conundrum photographers often face when shopping for a new camera: “Do I devote my budget to the best camera available, or...

The second album is always tricky, but while the EOS R may have featured a few experimental tracks, the Canon EOS RP is a little more traditional Canon in some respects. It’s also one of the smallest, lightest full-frame cameras available and, more significantly for some, it has the lowest launch...

The SRP for Canon EOS RP body is RM 5,999 of which I think is very high a price tag to command for a body as such. As you can see I didn’t touch on matters like 4K and the various complaints you probably seen from other reviews. I’d say case by case, and depends on what you need.

The Canon EOS RP is a good upgrade for those within the Canon ecosystem as well as those looking to pick up their first full frame or mirrorless camera. It is versatile, but not intimidating. It is compact, but not underwhelming.

I like the RP’s small size and easy access to all functions. Easy transition from my 70DI purchased the RP with the 24-105 mm f4 lens. Photos are sharp at all focal lengths using this zoom lens.I am disappointed that it does not have a faster FPS.I use the optional adapter for my EF lenses.

Let me start by saying I went back and forth for MONTHS about whether this camera was worth it. My biggest concern was battery life. I read everything about how poor battery life was and that was my biggest drawback. After a few weeks, I can say battery life is perfectly better than fine!

Let me start by saying this just might be the best buy camera of today. I have owned aprox 15 canon digital cameras and i still presently have the 6D which is a favorite. In the beginning, i had serious problems with the color/white balance of the RP.

Great camera if you're using it for what it's meant to be. The image quality is great with the EF adapter and a nifty fifty. The camera is very comfortable to hold, though anyone with medium to large hands should probably add on the grip extension.

  • +

Stills, compatability with EF lens, portability

  • -

Dynamic range, viewfinder could be improved

I've used the camera for a couple weeks now. It's met or exceeded my expectations in every way. Better price here than anywhere else for this item. #sweepstakes

This is my first mirrorless camera and, after a week of shooting, I'm not a fan. I'm sure it is a technically proficient camera, and is probably the future of digital cameras, but I simply prefer the feel of a classic DSLR. The EVF is weird and I can't get used to it.

I have had the Canon RP for about 18 months and with the T6i find myself doing a lot of landscape and astro photography. I find myself using the RP more frequently and currently planning on getting your Egyptian sun god Ra for more astro work.

I really love the photos that come out of this camera. It takes very little effort to get pro quality photos especially if you pair it with the 24-105 f4L lens. The button layout is very intuitive and easy to figure out. The flip screen is really handy when taking pictures at off angles.

Hi all, just sharing a short and brief review of my RP. Few weeks ago I sold my 6Dii and EF 24-105L, and since 2 weeks I'm the happy owner of the RP+RF 24-105L I know we have countless reviews on the net about all the technical specs (including the number of card slots) but I wanted to focus more on...

I upgraded from a 70D to the RP and WOW am I amazed! I shoot mainly landscapes, portraits, travel photography type stuff, and my cat. No sports, no video. For me this thing is perfect.Pros: Classic Canon controls made it a breeze to switch over.
