I have been shooting Sony for 16 years. I always loved the clarity and amazing detail I could obtain, but there was always something missing, the color. I shot with the FS7 for over a year and although it was an excellent camera, I found myself color grading until my head spun to get things just...
We have loved this camera. We have done photo shoots as well as video shoots. It has been awesome.
Great claims require great evidence. Here we go...While Sony has taken a giant leap forward around 2014 (releasing both the revolutionary A7S and updating its affordable FS offer), Canon could easily be accused of resting on its laurels.
What most reviews failed to share about this camera were the many options, internal codecs, IO connections and smaller options. 10 and 12 bit codecs with 444 and 422 color sampling internal, RAW Output 4K/2K Standard.
I bought this as an upgrade to 4K from the C300 that I had owned for the past two years. I primarily shoot documentaries, doing a lot of run-n-gun filming and love this camera for it.
To start, I came from the C300mki, to the Sony system when the fs7 came out. I spent 4 years with the fs7, and sold it as I was getting into high end commercial and narrative work and wasn't using it anymore.
Im very disappointed over the picture quality from this camera.I had expected more from a professional cinecamera like this. The picture is very soft, comparing with my Sony A9 or Panasonic GH5 its like night and day.Have tried to sharpen in post ( DaVinciResolve) and its getting a little...
I upgraded from the 5DIII and could not be happier. Things I love about this camera: - 12 bit 444 (full HD) and 10 bit 422 - Dual Pixel Autofocus is a game changer - Bult in ND's - Good audio recording to 4 channels with dual XLR inputs - Peaking, zebras, etc.
The one thing I would have loved is 4k @60 internal. The camera feels great and I love working in the canon infrustructure. If you love canon and are coming from a DSLR or C100 this camera is the perfect upgrade. Camera paid for it self in 6 months.
I have come to trust this product to handle nearly everything I throw at it. The image quality and color science that Canon has implemented here is best in class. In a business where quality and speed determine price, I am hard pressed to trust another product as much as I trust these cameras.
