In response toGermy1979's review. Yes, you definitely do not understand the problem and you should reread my review. The Ronin-M will not function in briefcase or upright mode with a C100 Mark II attached. The promo video conveniently does not show either of these two operational modes.
Simply the most outstanding, beautifully crafted run-n-gun documentary film camera on the market. Coupled with an Atomos Ninja II for ProRes in excess of 120 Mbps, the C100 out-performs the original C300 for a fraction of the cost. The hand grip fits like a glove.
This camera resolves 1080 beautifully, and is a very solid performer, however I wish to go straight to a feature that should be improved: The only progressive output available in 1080 via the HDMI port is 60p. When set to 29.97 or 23.98.
I enjoy recording a variety of things from nature, to friends, to weddings. After using the C100 Mark ii for about a month, I can see a big improvement over using a DSLR camera. The auto focus is a plus. I've been trying the C100 Mark ii out in a mixture of situations....
This is a great product if you understand, and are willing to accept, the limitations of combining the C100 MkII with the Ronin-M. For us, it works well since it allows for capturing stabilized footage using the same model camera we use otherwise so we don't have to spend time color correcting to...
Here's the deal: I'm a long time video camera user, but I needed to get into "DSLR" shooting in order to stay competitive. It will take me a while to get used to not having an auto zoom and an iris ring.
After reviewing a number of cameras including Sony Alpha 7s and NEX-FS700R, Black Magic Design Cinema cameras I selected the Canon EOS C100 Mark II and EF 24-105 mm lens.I knew I wanted a super 35mm sensor and lens that could auto focus and track faces.
I don't understand the problem... if you watch the promo wedding shoot with this combo, the Ronin is clearly working with the C100 MKii. Nuff said.
For $3999 the mk2 has improved noise reduction and color over the Mk1, plus has a much more usable eye cup which is more usable since it is extended (viewfinder) and better designed larger monitor display w/a higher def screen.
The ISO range is outstanding. It makes it easy to capture beautiful shots at night with few lights.I love it!
