I am a bird photographer and already own the EF 800mm. This lens is as excellent as the EF 400. They are both heavy to carry especially if you are 63 yrs and 5" tall. It is all worth it!! The pictures come out tack sharp.
Fast / accurate auto-focus
Great lens, but I had to sell my wife and kids into slavery in order to buy it. Also just be aware that the autofocus sometimes searches for focus and its not always that sharp, but Id say its worth the price.
