Fantasticly sharp lens wide open, and the longitidunal chromatic aberration is greatly reduced compared with the previous model. The new model has a plastic front filter holder though. The older model is lighter, smaller and more sturdy and quite a bit cheaper, and is one of Canon's best lenses.
