Take a great general-purpose focal length, pack it into a well-built, compact package, deliver impressive image quality, sell it at a relatively low price point and you have a winning combination. That succinctly sums up the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM Lens.
The Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM lens is the ideal lens for Canon EOS M users who are looking for a new prime lens to fit into their kit bag. It’s a simple, yet reliable, “nifty fifty” type lens by the time you take into account the crop factor of using it with an APS-C sized sensor.
The Canon EF-M 32mm f1.4 STM is a standard prime lens for the EOS M mirrorless system, delivering 51mm equivalent coverage coupled with a fast focal ratio that’s ideal for shallow depth-of-field effects.
That wide aperture is arguably even more important here, given that this is only the second lens in the stable not to be furnished with its own image stabilization system. This isn’t a feature we’d expect as standard on a lens of this sort, but it wouldn’t exactly be out of place when you...
Whether capturing photos of easily startled wildlife or recording a wedding ceremony, the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM helps minimize noise that may disrupt a momentous scene. By using a lead screw-type stepping motor (STM), it helps facilitate fast autofocusing and near-silent operation while recording...
I got this lens after a week with the kit lenses left me wanting something more. The bokeh on this lense is insane! From the first picture out of the bow I was amazed! It took a little getting used to such a wide open aperture at first but I was able to adapt quickly.
Well my M5 was waiting for it. I almost told the M5 .. don 't hold your breath on this. Was doing ok with all the nice ef and efs lenses that work as well on the M5 as on my 80D. But a smaller and lighter "fast" and "normal" was badly needed. The 32 makes the M-line really shine.
Well canon did it. At last ;-) Bokeh, IQ, AF speed and smooth, Focuslimiter!
Its crisp and good in low light with beautiful bokeh. A must have for photography and video looks fantastic too. It doesnt have stabilization so getting smooth hand held video footage can be tricky!
I bought this lens with some degree of reluctance due to the fact that this camera is so new there are very few lenses that are made for it. The quality of the shots that I made with it show that this is really an exceptional quality lens.
This lens is crazy sharp. You wont regret getting it. It raises the M system to professional level photography. It is that good. It hasnt been off my M5 since I bought it. Highly recommended!
Im using the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 on my M6 and loving it. In addition to being a relatively small and light lens (which fits well with the Canon M theme), this lens is also very sharp, even at f/1.4.
I have down-sized from full-frame DSLRs with L glass to an M50 with the kit lenses and this 32mm f/1.4. Naturally the kits lenses, although quite good, left me wanting more especially in low light situations and AF speed.
Another reviewer has stated that this f1.4 lens is actually an f2.2 with the 1.6 crop factor. This is incorrect. The 35mm equivalent focal length is affected by the crop factor, but the f stops are not.
This lens has very good IQ straight from f/1.4 where the center is excellent and the corners are good very good (in absolute terms)! @ f/5.6 it is a near perfect lens from center to corner on a 24 MPix sensor of M50.
Typical aCnon quality, very satisfied
