This is a superb general-purpose lens for the EOS M series of cameras. It's ultra sharp, and has the same quality optics as Fuji's 23mm f/2 on their X100 series, or LEICA's SUMMICRON 35mm f/2 ASPH .
For a small and relatively inexpensive lens, the Canon EF-M 22mm Æ’/2 STM provides an excellent result. Given the few options available (as of February 2013) for Canon EOS-M users, having this prime lens as an option is a no-brainer.
Canon did a good job once more. The Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM may be a tiny lens but it is an impressive performer nonetheless. The center quality is great throughout the relevant aperture range and the borders are also very impressive.
How I use the Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens:- I bought this lens for use with my Canon EOS M3 Mirrorless camera, to get wide shots. What I like about the Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens:- With the focal length conversion for APS-C sensors, this turns my Canon mirrorless into a 35mm.
Some people swear by fast prime lenses, such as this one. The big aperture enables fast shutter speeds and ISO is kept lower in low-light situations. However, I actually find the EF-M zooms (18-55mm and 11-22mm) more useful in most situations.
Small form factor, light, fast accurate AF, great image quality
43mm is an unusual filter size
Due to its small size as a "pancake" lens, I keep it on all the time since it's small. I end up moving closer to the subject if needed, so I don't miss the zoom as much as I thought. It's fast, so I get good background blurring.
Excellent lens. Very pleased with product. Sharp and focuses fast.
Beautiful, pancake lens that's really sharp. Easy to carry, lightweight, and great closeups. A real bargain priced lens.
This little gem of a lens is truly spectacular. The angle of view is equivalent to around 35mm on a full-frame body and is the ideal focal length for a whole lot of stuff. At f2.0, it is bright and has beautiful bokeh.
