I bought a cheaper one first and was disappointed I should have followed the advice I had seen online and gotten the Canon filter. why put a cheaper filter in front of expensive glass I use the Canon 100 - 400 zoom and this filter though expensive does the job perfectly.
Canon filter for a Canon lens. Everything fits the way it should. No need to go into the UV or not to UV debate. I'll just pay the little extra money to have something that works right.
Of course being a Canon product this protector fit my Canon 24-105mm lens perfectly. Installation was easy and screwed on with no resistance. No noticeable difference to my photos, which is a great thing.
In truth I only use this filter to protect the front element of my expensive lenses. I'm always careful with my equipment but why take a chance. I chose the Canon filter because being a Canon user I concluded the OEM route was the way to go.
Used non-Canon filters for years and continually had problems with filters getting 'stuck' on nearly all lenses, some nearly impossible to remove. Started using Canon-only filters (except for Singh-Ray) and found that the filters always could be easily removed.
I'm a commercial photographer, with very precise moments needed when photographing in a studio or on location, this is a great filter to add an extra level of professionalism to my images. Cutting out unwanted reflections and bringing colours to life more, it's essential.
Good quality and doesnt bind on the lens
Inexpensive investment to protect and prevent expensive lens from dusts and scratches.
mostly to protect lens but never had a problem with a canon filter
I've gotten into the habit of buying a Canon PROTECT filter for all of my lenses. I've read way too many horror stories of broken glass on lenses and want to do what I can to protect my gear as much as I can.
