The binocs are all I hoped for. This is a particularly good time to view Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Mars. Weather is clear and planets are close and bright. I can explore in my backyard and bip from one planet to another without lugging a telescope on a tripod around. Moon detail is outstanding!
Wonderful image - incredible stabilization, very luminous. You can read a newspaper across the street.Get for them the Canon anti-fog eyepieces, some Zacuto eye cup rubber extensions from the eyepieces to your face, and a simple elastic harness...
The best binoculars I’ve ever used. All I can say is, if you want the best, these 18x 50 will not disappoint.
I took them to the Crane migration event in Kearney Nebraska and they worked very well in low light and better than expected. The Binoculars are heavier than what I normally use. However, in the blind where I had a way of resting the binoculars on something they worked nicely.
Excellent product! Exactly what I need for my upcoming mountain goat hunt.
As steady as you try to hold yourself, even your beating heart will cause the visual field to jiggle, but the built-in stabilization works perfectly (and quietly) to provide easy viewing. These superb optics are not meant for hikers but for observers at fixed positions.
I use my 18*50s for star gazing. I own a meade 8" Schmidt cas and these binocs are my joy when under the stars. Don't let the weight scare you. Clear perfect views..... You bet. Comfortable to hold. Would not be happy without them.
These are excellent binoculars. Power is good, picture is crystal clear and the Stabilization feature makes it unnecessary to mount it on a tripod (although there is an easy way to do it). I should have bought these years ago.
In Image Stabilization in this binocular works very well (no surprise, since Canon is the company that invented the technology in the first place and then licensed it out to the other manufacturers) - with 18x power that makes all the difference!
Image Stabilization causes minor chromatic aberration, (turning IS off eliminates CA) which can be an issue when trying to identify subtle color markings on birds for example. Battery life is not wonderful, but I carry a pair of AAs for backup. The view is incredible.
stable field is like no other advantage, high magnification, high build quality
mediocre battery life, minor color fringing in high-contrast fields, heavy
