The EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is the best zoom you can get for shooting video with the EOS Rebel T4i, but it's not quite as sharp as its non-STM sibling.

Silent motor. Smooth video focus with T4i. Optically stabilized.

Some distortion. Not quite as sharp as non-STM version of lens.
A fantastic everyday standard zoom lens, the new Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS STM is a high quality and affordable lens for Canon dSLR cameras. It is well worth the money whether it is coming with the Rebel T4i kit or as an upgrade or additional lens purchased on its own.

Solid and traditional Canon lens feel., Slightly smaller than the previous 18-135mm lens, IS system works as advertised, Silent and very low vibration AF is great for continuous AF video recording, Very easy to use, controls are smooth, Sharp images throughout aperture range, Affordable price tag

AF system, while smooth and quiet, is slightly slower than a USM lens, Some CA is easily visible in some of our sample images
The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens is a significant upgrade from the standard-at-review-time 18-55mm IS kit lens . It is an upgrade in many ways, but the 18-135's most attractive features are a wide (7.5x) focal length range , a relatively light weight & small package, a good IS (Image...
Handling and features This lens is an update to the current Canon 18-135mm IS lens, replacing the standard focusing motor with Canon's new stepping motor technology, which promises, smoother, quieter autofocus performance, which is especially suited to recording video.
The 18-135mm zoom lens occupies an interesting position when it comes to consumer zoom lenses: it's not as long as the more convenient superzooms (18-200, for example), but it's longer and more capable than an 18-55mm kit lens.
The results of our test and some of the Canon’s EF-S 18–135 mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM parameters suggest clearly that, despite dealing here with a construction featuring the same number of elements and group as its older predecessor it is a completely new design. New and – what’s important – better.

very good image quality in the frame centre,, decent image quality on the edge of the frame,, negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration,, lack of problems with spherical aberration,, good coma correction,, slight astigmatism,, sensible appearance of blur areas,, efficient and silent autofocus,,...

high distortion on the wide angle which, additionally, is of the moustache variation,, significant vignetting at 18 mm,, work against bright light at the longer focal length could have been better.
For a lens intended to be bundled as a kit with Canon's consumer Digital SLRs, this lens performs well, providing decent sharpness, especially at shorter focal lengths. The inclusion of image stabilisation is a bonus too and the system works effectively.

Good sharpness for a superzoom, Lightweight, Fast focusing, Effective stabiliser

High CA levels, Overpriced when not sold as part of a kit
The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM IS is a pretty obvious choice for those users seeking for a long universal range while keeping a very decent image quality. The new optical design with a large diameter UD element in the front lens group obviously makes a difference compared to its predecessor.
Slightly larger than its predecessor (which we reviewed in November,2009), the new EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM lens has been developed to match the EOS 650D and offers features to complement the camera's movie capabilities.
Me quedcon este lente solamente, porque no lo saqumas de la cara.

Un paco de distorción a 18mm pero facilmente corregido en ACR.
I'm continually impressed with the image quality and sharpness of this lens. Auto focus is very fast and works flawlessly on my SL1 body and Sony a7r II with the Metabones Adapter.
I received the lens today and it is a grey market one. There is no canon packaging on it but just a white box with lens inside, however, the page on the site says condition as new! Also they have not mentioned anywhere on the site that it is from Grey Market!
Sou um proprietário desde o seu lançamento, e resolvi fazer um up-grade para a versão STM. Aos que desejam versatilidade e alta qualidade de focagem, sem dúvida é uma opção de ótimo custo benefício.
