Definitely a Diamond in the rough.I bought this for a family member who has never had any decent gear. She got a Set of B&W 602 -S2. So I said I'd get her the amp nice setup for my sister. I first auditioned for the unit for a couple of days... Let it run overnight and begin to listen.

It's not for me.
Have had the Cambridge Audio AXR85 stereo receiver for a month. Matched it with Klipsch RP-600II speakers. Great set up. The sound is pure and clear. I hear every instrument with clarity. Just got the Pro-ject Automat A1. With all three components are awesome. I'm super satisfied with my choices.

Great looking receiver.

This receiver replaced an old Yamaha receiver that was beginning to act up. The Yamaha had more inputs and flexibility with output sources, but I decided that three analog inputs would suffice for my current needs.

Plenty of power.Simplicity of operation.

Limited connections.Cluttered remote.
Solid, well built receiver. Not a lot to tangle with...2 channels, sub out, and 3 analog inputs plus phono. Hooked my turntable up direct without the preamp and the bass was thumping out of the box.

Sound quality. Ease of connection and use.

Print on the remote.
The AXR85 provides a very musical, mild-mannered sound - perhaps a little to mild on mid-bass. The imaging was good. The FM section performs very cleanly. I particularly like the volume control, which makes uniform changes at all levels as the knob is turned.

musical, clean FM, smooth volume control

manual sometimes a little confusing. It appears that if you want to change one station preset, you must reset all.
It's powerful and clean I just wish I could add a graphic equalizer to it but the connections don't support that other than that it has some nice features.
Very good system.
It's kind of like buying a Jaguar, or Rover the features are great when they work. Just under 2 years in and Bluetooth is completely non-functional.

Sound quality, input flexibility, and power available.

lack of reliablilty
I wanted to not like this receiver because it's replacing a cherished 45 year old Pioneer which finally accumulated enough problems to be untenable. But the Cambridge has performed flawlessly so far and sounds powerful and detailed.
The receiver is easy to set up and use. I ran it for about 48 hours before I began to finalize my thoughts about the sound quality. It did need to run in and improved over time. It doesn't have the depth or fullness that my Pioneer SX 727 has but is pleasant to listen to.
