Handful of months out of warranty, ice maker stops
We've had this refrigerator for a year and a half and the ice maker just stopped working two weeks ago. We've done every troubleshooting tip we can find. Nothing worked. We really thought that buying a 4k refrigerator would mean we wouldn't have to worry about these random issues that are common with cheaper models. I'm so disappointed! We had a cafe dishwasher that slowly leaked under our floors for 9 months... Thank goodness our home warranty was still good for that. But this? This one is on us now. Incredible that ge has sticker prices so high on the Café series, yet they are obviously not made to any higher standards than the cheap ones.

It's a Beauty!
The good: It's so beautiful - inside and out! The middle drawer is very convenient for easy access to snacks, drinks, deli foods, etc. It's easy to adjust the partitions to allow for large platters. The freezer is great with the basket at the front for small items and I really like the middle freezer tray for added storage so things don't get buried in the bottom. The Autofill feature is nifty.
The bad: Really only one complaint -- the dairy bin is pretty much a design fail. If you accidentally leave the bin up after getting your item out and close the door - WHAM, CRASH, PLASTIC PIECES EVERYWHERE! Thank goodness for superglue!

Water dispense leaks
I love the look of this refrigerator, the LED light panel is beautiful. However, we are greatly disappointed with the continual drip from the water dispenser. We had engineers try to fix this issue on multiple different occasions. A drip kit was added to the first one we had and it still dripped! It is a defect in the product that needs addressing, GE themselves claim this is acceptable, I can tell you that every time you open or close a door and the water dispense drips this is not acceptable it is defective. We finally got a replacement today and the new one is doing exactly the same. For the price I expect a way better product.

Temnperature does not work properly
Do not judge this horrible book (fridge) by its beautiful cover. It looks beautiful and is feature rich. But the temperature does not work in the refrigerator or the snack drawer. I already returned one fridge and I will give this 2nd fridge the weekend before I return it also. The fridge temp is set to 37 and it won't go below 40, and is often at 42 or 43. If I lower the setting to 34 degrees it gets down to 38 or 39 at best and is often at 40 or 41. Milk will spoil above 40. The snack drawer is set at 37 but usually is between the mid 20s and low 30s. It never gets as high as 37. The freezer does work properly.

GE - Cafe - Unreliable and Lack of GE Support
I’m very disappointed with the GE Café Refrigerator (Model CVE28DP2NBS1). Within two years, the compressor failed twice. GE replaced the compressor the first time, but it broke again within 3 months. After the second breakdown, they only offered a small discount on a new unit instead of a replacement for the refrigerator. They expect us to BUY a new refrigerator within 2 years of a HIGH END CAFÉ Purchase. For a high-end model, this lack of durability and support is unacceptable. Compressor issues are apparently common with this line, so I expected GE to take responsibility. Sadly, I can’t recommend this refrigerator if you’re looking for reliability and value.

Initial observations
Fit and finish are superb - We have a French country style kitchen we have been building with red and copper accents. This fit in perfectly
Technology - Auto-fill is like magic- really enjoy the ice maker and water filter location as it is not a throw-away on the space. The snack drawer is ideal for the kids items. I look forward to the consolidation of GE Product control into the smartHQ app which this item uses. It is nice to have controls and updates from the phone.
Sound - Super quiet operation and a door open alarm that is soothing enough that, if you combine it with the amazing rear lighted panel, one could find themself entranced.

Great Refrigerator - Handles could be designed
The refrigerator is exactly what my wife wanted and it fits our needs. The interior compartments are well designed in the freezer and the refrigerator so that space is maximized. The delivery people and myself spent an hour trying to get the freezer handles to properly set so that there was no gap on them. One side would seat in perfectly and the other side would not. Overall it’s a great refrigerator but for what it costs, one would think that there would not be an alignment issue on the handles. I will continue to work on trying to figure it out because these are the things that I can’t let go.

Very functional and large refrigerator
I highly recommend this refrigerator. I purchased the full size and so happy I did. The inside is roomy and with the backlight you can see everything on all shelves. The doors have deep built-in shelves that hold a lot. The ice-maker is easy to access as well as the water filter. Very well designed.
The middle pull-up drawer can be used a variety of ways with its individual temperature control.
The freezer holds a ton of food. It serves three pull-outs plus a small shelf in the drawer for smaller items.
I have purchased 3 refrigerators in the past 5 years, all for rental properties and this model and brand is by far the best one.
