Top of the line unit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this unit to install in a rental property I own and I figured since I was redoing the kitchen I would install this new cooktop. It was easy to install for me with the instructions and believe me I'm not a handy man for sure. I used it to make some soup just to make sure everything was in order and it had even cooking throughout. I think it can even be hooked up to wireless through Bluetooth but I have not tried that yet. If you want a top of the line cooktop and you are somewhat handy I recommend this brand for sure. I can't get over how the design of this model is. 5 star for certain

Avoid it.
Discoloured from the bottom up, not on the surface. This was three months after installation. Warranty was refused saying I used the wrong cookware, which I think is just a standard answer for all complaints about induction. The never asked about my cookware, and my understanding is it won't turn on with the wrong cookware. I'm using cookware that I have used on a previous induction range I owned made by Jenair with no problems. It was black hopwever. They sent me a page from the manual about what kind of cookware to use. It explained nothing about how puting the wrong cookware on it will cause it to discolour.

Nice Electric Cooktop!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really nice 36” electric cooktop. It’s very sleek looking with the stainless steel and built-in touch control. With different size burners you can cook a variety of things. Small kids we could boil bottles on one end and warmup dinner on the other. The controls look difficult, but time will help you get accustomed to them. Speaking of time, that’s the big factor here. How will this stand-up overtime. Not sure yet, but there’s nothing leading me to believe that you won’t be cooking on this for many years to come.

Griddles DO NOT work as intended with sync option
I love how quickly it heats up and the ease of cleaning. However, I am very disappointed in the sync option for a griddle. The two burners can be synced with temperature but they do not heat evenly across a griddle. You end up with two hot spots the size of the burners and the rest of the griddle isn’t hot enough to cook the food. We are left to use the larger center burner with a circle skillet but even that can’t be big enough for the use we want. So much for making lots of pancakes or grilled cheese at one time for the family :(
Also, the touch controls are very sensitive and if you have the tiniest bit of residue or moisture on your fingers or on the surface you have to clean and dry both before you can control the temperature.

Good performing Cooktop
Pros: Great cooktop. Very responsive (see note on cons). Easy to use controls.
Cons: Very tiresome to keep clean. It shows every smudge and must be washed and dried with a microfiber cloth to look good. This is very tiresome. It is attractive once cleaned. The grey color shows less smudges, I think. Some burners hum, others do not. Some of the burners take a lot longer to respond than others which also is tiresome.
You cannot use as a work space to land hot items from the wall oven as I did with gas because it will dirty or scratch the surface, which is also tiresome. Having to be so careful does not seem like it is sustainable, but maybe it just takes getting use to. Other than that, it works quite well.

Worth every penny.
Excellent product. This is my second GE Cafe induction product. We had a GE Cafe induction range in our previous home and loved it. When we moved, the builder's gas stove just did not hold a candle. We recently took delivery of this induction cooktop, and it is excellent. Amazing temperature control, our Made In griddle works amazingly well on the linked burners. Our All-Clad cookware just shines on the induction cooktop. The gas stove required almost 15 minutes to boil a pasta pot, and the induction is down to just under 6 minutes (and no more burnt spaghetti!).
We debated a long time about the upgrade, as we also needed to have a 220V/50A line installed. That ran about $1,500 for the electrician and inspections. Now that its installed, I have no regrets.
In the 1930's, the natural gas companies started a campaign "now you're cooking with gas..." after 100 years, its time to retire that... "now we're cooking with magnets!!!"

High end feel with above average power and control
We got the silver/grey version to contrast with our dark granite and it looks fabulous. The 36 inch version with the giant center pot boiler is amazing. We tested it multiple times and it will get a large pasta pot filled with water to a roiling boil in 3 minutes. With the right convection designed pans, this cooksurface is really nice to cook on. Want to gently heat a cream or butter sauce, get the bluetooth saucepan or fry pan for really precise temperature cooking. Easy to clean and looks like it is off a Star Trek movie set. Superior to any other convection cooktops I have used!

The minimum size requirements are not accurate
When it works, it's better than an electric stove. But that's an IF. Most of the time it takes us to cook is spent trying to get the cooktop to recognize our magnetic cookware despite their magnetic diameter meeting the size requirements listed in the user manual of the cooktop. Sometimes they're detected, most times they aren't.
