The Beyerdynamic DT 880s are extra comforatable and their sound is certainly audiophile level, but stereo imaging isn't as wide open as other top contenders.
The Beyerdynamic DT 880 headphones are among the most comfortable on the market, and they come packaged in a gorgeous padded aluminum storage case. The headphones use a standard miniplug connector but include a 1/4-inch adapter and a 15-foot extension cord.
The DT 880s are expensive, and ill suited for use with the iPod.
Beyerdynamic knows high-end audio, and it shows on the DT 880.
If you like lots of high-frequency sparkle fromyour headphones, the Beyerdynamic DT 880s may be just the ticket. Similarly, if yourheadphone amp has rolled-off highs, the DT 880s could compensate. However, matchingstrength with weakness is the wrong way to create a satisfying playback system.
If you want Star Trek styling, these aren't the headphones for you. Andif you're shepherding your pennies, it's not hard to find headphones thatcost half as much as the DT 880s, and certainly aren't only half as good.
I use them as everyday pc/gaming headphones. They were meant to be used in studio/recording but who cares it beats everything it touches.
Semi open, very solid construction, does not "squeak" when taken on or off. It has a clear, flat soundstage. Comes with a carrying case.

Equipment Denon DVD 2900 --> G&W T2A --> DT880 - DT880¡¦s resolution is so high, to such an extent that my friends complain about it forcing one into analyzing rather than listening music. I do not have this problem so it¡¦s more about personal preference.
I have a self-destructive habit of collecting headphones, with a good twenty pair in all. Despite reading some sharply negative reviews about these cans, I decided to give them a try, knowing I had an amplifier to go with them. Much has been said about them - no low end, shrill, etc..
The long listening headphones ears wont pain how much ever long you listen
These are accurate transducers. They are very detailed, uncoloured, and low distortion. People don't always want this sort of headphones. A lot of people want strong bass, and will not like the DT 880.
I have Grado 325, AKG 701 and Sennhieser HD600 headphones. I like them all for different reasons. Through my Schiit Lyr tube headphone amp, these DT 880s sound the best. That's me------try for yourself. They need about 200 hours of break-in and a dedicated headamp.
Excellent. Love it!
I like them a lot for vocals but not so much for metal or rock. Pros : Most comfortable headphones I have ever used. Sound is very accurate in the mids and highs. Cons : No detachable cable Lacking low end 600 Ohm so you need a powerful amp (tube amp or a magni 2) Let's a lot of outside noise for a...
I never knew music / movies / games had so much unheard sound before. Everything is so crystal clear. Although not bass heavy as it's open, they still do not leak a lot of sound. I have a Creative Sound Blaster Zx that's supposed to power a 600 Ohm headphone but it doesn't get that loud.
Superb sound stage , Amazing headphones
