For the price, it's a very good deal. The sound is flattish while not reference. I had to substract a star because of the noisy headphone output. It's an important feature for me but not usable in my opinion.
The sound difference between digital inputs and analog inputs is not noticeable. The reason is quite clear and I hope everyone knows this; sound is an analog signal at some point along the line.
The compact size and low price are definitely a plus, but unless they fix the numerous problems... I just recommend saying no to these.
First off, the treble is not so crisp or amazing in any way. It feels distorted at times and strangely wrong. The bass is not amazing either; I didn't expect it to be though, as it is only a total of 40 watts. The frequency response they give is completely false.
I love these so much that I'm buying them for my second studio. :-)
I use them for my main sound for my desktop computer system and they do a great job. I am glad I decided to purchase these. Tweaking the equalizer in the sound card made all the difference!
Good value for quick reference and general recording.
To get a true baseline, these worked out well.
I'm a DJ and producer. I've used these speakers as my workhorse studio speakers and for small parties/events continuously for the past 5 years. They are loud, the sound quality is clean and the price is reasonable. Definitely would recommend
OK, you probably still need to make a final pass at audio on headphones and other reference systems, but these are great in a small studio for getting the audio right when I edit video. I found that I was straining to hear with my old Bose speakers or the Apple speakers in my 27 monitors.
I used these monitors to solve a delay problem using Rocksmith with the XBOX One through HDMI. I used the optical out from the XBOX ONE direct into the MS40's. Problem solved. I wish they were a little bigger with more power, but these are the only powered monitors with a optical in solution.
I tested these head to head with a pair of M-Audio AV40 speakers. Although the Behringers have more adjustment features, I thought they had a pretty dull midrange and an annoying hum when no audio was playing.
