Bottom line is if you need a guitar, bass, vocal or keyboard DI are are on a budget it, this is great. It will get the job done for you without too much noise to boot. It will warm up a brittle sound to an extent but the Behringer is not a miracle worker.
I wanted something small to pack out for the field and on the go. I also like simple tools that simply do what's expected. This particular unit adds nice gain without additional line noise/buzz/hum on similarly priced competitor units I've tried and then tossed.
yeah, I know. it's a cheap preamp. I ' ve changed the tube. it sounded dirty. the new one, tung sol gold is smoother. I use it with my wireles shure sm86 before behringer shark fb filter and the mixer. if you take care of the gain/output level it can be a good boy.
