We take a look at the latest from one of our fave headphone manufacturers – it’s our review of the amazing Audio Technica’s ATH-R70x’s Price £379 (street £249) Contact Audio-Technica 0113 277 1441 firstname.lastname@example.org Web www.audio-technica.com/en The ATH-M70x headphones from Audio Technica...
A–T’s new flagship headphones are also the company’s first ever open–backed design. We put them to the test.
I’ve tried to summarize as best I can my impressions of the three headphones tested below. As already mentioned, I’m no sonic expert, and I have some rather particular sound preferences, so you may disagree with my judgments, and that’s fine with me.
-comfort, -bass, -soundstage, - warm tonal balance, - just enough detail retrieval, - extremely musical, - works with all genres, - non-fatiguing, - Comfort, - Imaging, - Detail Retrieval, - Scalability, - Price, Reference comfort, really excellent sound quality, detachable cable, great value,...
-details, -no short cable, -small markings, - perhaps slightly too polite, - not the fastest, - small earpads, - slightly better with EQ, - Slightly recessed Lower Mids and Upper Bass response, - Low quality stock cable, - Slightly sharp with solid state amplification.
These headphones have great frequency response, even in the low end. I was kind of suspect about them being openback at first but they are shockingly quiet in that regard. If you mix like I do and want some great headphones to use when switching between them and your studio monitors for cross...
This headphone is amazing. The R70x's are perfect for mixing If something sounds bad on these its because these do not give a pretty sound (Thats a good thing) that simply means you need to fix what is sounding bad in your mix. This is a must have for the pro studio
This product is awesome! Audio-Technica has come through again with a high quality product at an attractive price. Sweetwater is the place to do business. My sales engineer Mark Thompson has never let me down with product recommendations.
Much different to Audio-Technica's other offerings. These are neutral with a touch of warmth, incredible imaging and tonality. These compete with headphones 3-4 x their price. Other more expensive headphones offer better technical performance and sound signatures for individual preferences, but from...
Very happy with the purchase, these are my first pair of “expensive” open-back headphones. I have paired them with a Fiio K5 Pro DAC/amp and I don't think I'll ever go back to speakers for private music listening.
COVID restrictions have made client-less mixing a necessity, so I've had clients purchase these headphones. It's important that they hear the mixes on a high quality reference monitoring system, and they all loved the R70x.
Accurate. Comfortable for hours of mix/edit work
L/R orientation marks hard to see
I have now had these headphones for about a year and use them almost every day. They have given me the best results for setting up my patches in my Helix. When i go to a gig i never have to worry about spending time adjusting settings for the show. Every thing translates perfectly.
Light weight, non-fatiguing reference headphones.
These are excellent sounding headphones that are impressively light. I find the band system really comfortable. Only downside is the long cable if you’re using these at your desk, however there are plenty of aftermarket cable options online
