The Audio Technica 4050 is a very quiet, versatile microphone. Sonically it can capture instruments and voice at near field, mid field and far field placement. The polar patterns are very useful and all work very well. This is a classic well made microphone.

This microphone is everything I was hoping for and more. Crisp top end, rich lows. Looking forward to purchasing another for use as Overheads. My go-to for Vocals, Acoustic Guitars, and as a room mic.

I first began using the AT4050 back in 1997, and nearly 20 years later, it still has a prominent place in my mic locker, probably racking up more overall use than any other single microphone I have. Talk about reliability!

I have used a bunch of microphones . Some people want extreme clarity . Some people want something that completely hides their voice with air and some effects. I personally like clear it's with a tidbit of air for that nice sweet smoothness. And this mic does exactly that .

Very crisp. Purchased this after I noticed the studio I go to has it in all the rooms. The engineers love it and the price was just right. I am a VO actor and recommend the AT4050 to anyone in the business. A high end mic at a very reasonable price.

Sounds identical to me to the 414 ULS B. these mics are all for those who can't afford the Neuman U87. I usually cut bit of the upper mids on mixdown, as it has a tendency to increase the 1K area of the source. Other than that, I've found it to be extremely accurate and virtually transparent.

I've owned a pair of 4050s for many years and they continue to be used on every session, both along side many more expensive microphones and many times instead of those other mics. They have a neutral character without being "boring" or clinical.
