Audio-Technica AT4022 Small-Diaphragm Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone

I must respond to the one star rating provided here, which is misleading. These are fantastic sounding omnidirectional microphones in almost every respect and with preparation, can be used for nature recording.

Audio-Technica has achieved what I thought was not possible in a microphone at this price. It provides very accurate and clear reproduction of string and reed instruments with a robust signal/noise ratio. In fact, the self-noise is far below what I expected in this small diaphragm design.

I have been in and around the recording business over the years and have had various professional mics but were never totally happy with what I recorded. I record mostly pipe organ both classical and theater.

These microphones are superb. I do nature and location recordings and every chance I can take to use omni mics I take it. I upgraded to these from a cheaper pair and now I'll never look back.
