The thing with Audeze headphones is that.. there is not really a thing! The company has managed to develop its patented take on the planar magnetic driver system such that there are now three different lines of LCD-branded headphones, each with 3–4 entries.

Exceptionally efficient planar magnetic driver system, Very good consistency between the two channels across the measured frequency range, Scales well with amplifiers, but is not too sensitive or in need of too much power/gain, Deliberate warm tuning and deep bass results in incredible fun with...

Lacking in imaging where sound sources are hard to map out, Upper mids a weakness; there is some clarity loss with the generally warm signature, Quite expensive even as a set of "entry level" Audeze LCD Origins headphones, The treble range is hit or miss depending on your listening preference; it is...
Audeze has long been known for high-quality headphones that offer the finest sound and workmanship. The closed-back version of the LCD-2 Classic is squarely in line with this, and as an extension of the LCD-2 aims to inspire us with a contemporary tool for music enjoyment with all the warm sound and...
Excellent for neutral listening. The LCD 2 Classic are comfortable, have a great bass range, a decently balanced mid-range that's little forward on instruments and vocals but sounds balanced enough for most and an above average treble.

Comfortable., Durable design., Open sound quality.

Poor isolation by design., Bulky and heavy headphones.
Two wildly different headphones that each provide a stellar experience. As I compared the headphones I often found myself reluctant to reach for the other yet as soon as I did, I found myself wondering how I stayed away for so long.
Audeze LCD-2 Classic Planar Magnetic Headphones For Serious Sound Audeze have been producing high end headphones for quite a long time, indeed the re-launch...
Audeze enters the price region of well below 1,000 euros with the somewhat slimmed down LCD-2 Classic, thus becoming a more appealing option for a new slice of the market. Reduced to the essentials, these headphones combine the highest processing criteria with a super comfortable fit and a sound...
It’s a dilemma. You want to buy an open-back headphone so you can feel that sweet spaciousness. But your significant other will kill herself if she has to hear Hotel California one more time. Just how different do these two great LCD-2’s sound?
For the past week, I’ve been lucky enough to be listening to the brand new Audeze LCD-2 Classic Closed-Back headphones! They were such a pleasure to listen to so I’m excited to share my thoughts about them with you here today.
With a current lack of headphones pressing for attention and review space, I turned to an older model that we haven’t reviewed yet – the Audeze LCD-2. At a price of $995, and given it’s manufacturer, we know this isn’t going to be a lightweight.
version had marginally faster transient speed, especially with high frequency instruments like cymbals.
After EQ to the harmon target, the sound is really stunning. Rich sound stage for a closed back headphone; it is almost unbelievable. However, despite how great this sounds, I just can't recommend it unless your listening sessions are very short (< 30 min).

- Fantastic sound stage and bass response

- Not really a con, but EQ makes a night and day difference with this headphone- The weight is unreasonable
Unfortunately, the Audeze didn’t work out for me. I didn’t give it much time to break in, but I felt it was so far off the mark for me that it wouldn’t have helped. I don’t think I was using a good enough DAC to bring about the best results. But I didn’t want to make any further investment.
Well built and attractive headphone - muscular sound, good dynamics, excellent bass and midrange. Soundstaging is very good - both wide and deep. Instrument placement is also excellent - no wandering instruments with these headphones.
Great set of cans, great sound stage highs and lows. audeze should be ashamed of the picture they've put out. These headphones are not the dull looking brown shown they're a beautiful black marble.

I swap between these and the DT 1990's. Time and time again I'm wowed by their presentation in comparison to the Beyer's. The 1990s are the epitome of the "headphone" sound where as the LCDs feel like you have speakers mainly in front but also around you. If I had one word for it, it'd be presence.
A beautiful sounding, non fatiguing work of art. Only complaint I have about the sound is that it could stand to be a little punchier, at least to my ears. As far as build and comfort, I can’t complain, these are bang perfect.
one thing that i really disappointed with is that i thought they are new version. but it wasnt.. please change ur pic..
Incredible product with amazing build quality. The sound is awesome and I would definitely recommend!
Long time HD600 user so was looking for something warm but with better overall detail and performance. The LCD2 Classics are perfect. The additional weight will take some getting used to but not really as bad as I was expecting. They're already starting to breakin with just a few hours use.
For the past 20 years I have exclusively used Sennheiser, starting with the ancient HD-550(?), and for the past decade nothing but HD-650. I use them so much my brain has taken the shape of the HD-650 frequency response curve.
