Apple's EarPods offer much-improved sound over the previous standard-issue earbuds, but they won't fit all ears equally well -- and that fit will determine whether you think they're great or just so-so.
-
+
The Apple EarPods offer mostly impressive sound, with good detail and better bass than Apple's previous headphones. They're also lightweight, with a comfortable fit, and have an integrated inline remote and microphone for making calls and controlling your music playback.
-
-
Some people may find that the EarPods don't fit securely in their ears, and these earbuds also let in a lot of sound and leak a little sound, too.

When all is said and done, Apple’s new EarPods are an improvement on the earbuds they replace, but only marginally so. It’s hard to imagine anyone would compare the two and express a preference for the older model. With that said, we had hoped for a little more from the EarPods.

+
Considerably improved bass, Slightly better short-term comfort, Slightly larger in-line control microphone
-
-
Hot and brittle treble, Midrange sucked out, Still uncomfortable for long-term use

Apple's new EarPods are the better-fitting, better-sounding earbuds iPods and iPhones should have had all along.

+
Great sound for the price. Surprisingly strong bass considering it's not an in-canal design. Inexpensive. Includes small carrying case.
-
-
Design still doesn't fit everyone. Doesn't block out any external noise and some sound leaks out.

There was momentous news on Wednesday night, far more significant than the iPhone 5 or redesigned iPods. After years of inflicting the horror of its white, bundled earbuds on its customers – and their blameless fellow commuters – Apple announced it was finally retiring them, replacing them with a...

While the review ended with a bit of criticism, the fact remains that the sound quality of the EarPods is definitely good enough for bundled headphones. For this price segment the quality is pretty unique actually. Only Sony includes superior quality earbuds with its Walkmans.

The new Apple EarPods are here and they are an incredible improvement.

If there has been one certainty when it comes to Apple products since the launch of the original iPod, it was that the headphones in the box were rubbish. Not any more, we're happy to report. Apple has "re-invented" the in-the-box earphones, giving them a funky name at the same time: EarPods.
-
+
Comfortable, volume control on cable, sound good, cheap
-
-
Easily fall out, no real depth to the bass

The Apple EarPods have been three years in the making but was it worth it?
-
+
Slick design, Decent bass, Improved noise isolation
-
-
Pricey for the quality, Don't feel entirely stable, Sonics lack clarity

In its unending search for perfection, Apple has decided to completely redesign its iconic white earbuds. The new Apple EarPods with Remote and Mic are now the default earphones that ship with the new iPhone 5 and iPod touch , but you can also buy them separately.

The buds will not stay in my ears. I have to keep pushing them in, and 20 minutes, my ears are very sore. I don't understand how they can be so uncomfortable. I had 3 friends try them, and everyone thought the same thing. No one thought they were comfortable.
-
+
The sound quality is good, once they'rein your ear.

The buds will not stay in my ears. Uncomfortable!

Great product. A lot of people in my office use them because we have to regularly have international phone calls and the mic picks up your voice very clearly. It's speakers also give great sound. It's a great deal for the price. This is my second pair.

The Apple EarPods, as delivered by Apple when you get a iPhone delivers a tight sound, good bass and wonderful midrange and high tones. Its a personal choice though. Every one hears different so you need to try them out. There cheap or free if you buy iPhone. I like the sound, great for Rock!

These are replacement headphones. Seems like every 6-8 months you need to replace them.

Doesn't last long.

I bough 3 earphones which lasted less than one week. One started to fall apart, the other one raised the volume of the cell phone while listening to music all by itself, and the third one stopped working all together.

These are not iPhone head phones. They are a cheap knock off and you can tell by the quality. Even the actual earbud quality is cheap plastic. The sound quality is not the same as apple. DON'T BUY!!!! unless you like these type of things.

Edit: With the Dirac music player app (free) from the app store, the Earpods sound becomes very hi-fi. No amping is feasible with the app because the DSP is tuned for the headphone jack, and that's OK because the sound is spectacular. DSP in this case is not mere EQ - it fixes everything.

Poor quality sound, very plastic-like wires instead of the usual rubber, ear pieces have 2 visible circles on the opening, and the second hole has no impact what so ever.
