Pro and Air 2 owners can skip this one, but for nearly everyone else, the updated iPad is an ideal all-around tablet at a fantastic price.

Apple's new iPad delivers faster performance and a brighter screen than the model it replaces, at a price that's about half as much as the iPad Pro. Tight integration between the hardware, software and app store makes it easy to use.
-
-
It's a bit thicker and heavier than the now defunct iPad Air 2. It lacks the stylus support, better speakers and better screen of the iPad Pro.
Apple did not even hold a keynote for its latest tablet model. All we got was a press release. We think: That is enough for the Apple iPad (2017), because it is a very good tablet – and finally for a fair price.
-
+
bright display, accurate colors, precise touchscreen, excellent build quality, long battery runtime, high browser performance
-
-
outdated SoC, very glossy screen, old LTE standard, slightly increased black value, no support for Apple pencil
If you don't need all the iPad Pro features or you just want to spend a lot less, this iPad is a great choice.
-
+
New lower price, starting at $329, Excellent battery life
When you factor in the app angle, along with the 2017 iPad’s terrific battery life, healthy overall performance, and solid construction, the 2017 iPad is both the best full-size tablet for the dollar, and the best-value mainstream tablet you can buy today.
-
+
Newly competitive price for its screen size, Solid construction, Strong app ecosystem, Satisfying battery life
-
-
Incrementally thicker than predecessor, Slow charging
This iPad is great for families, schools, businesses looking for a point-of-sale system, and just anyone who wants a workhorse of an iPad without the bells and whistles of the more expensive iPad Pro.
-
+
New lower price, starting at $329, Excellent battery life
With its epic battery life, speedy performance and brilliant display, the 2017 iPad is the best tablet for the money and one of the best tablets overall. It may be a tad heftier than the competition, and it doesn't break new ground, but people who want a long-lasting, large-screen slate with plenty...
Conclusion One other thing to point out is that the new iPad does not include the Smart Connecter found on Apple's two current iPad Pro models. As such, it is incompatible with the company's Smart Keyboard attachment.
-
+
Affordable price (for an Apple product), Fast and capable A9 system-on-a-chip, 1.3 million apps specifically designed for the iPad
-
-
Non wide-gamut display that isn't fully laminated, Dated camera technology, Not compatible with Smart Keyboard or Apple Pencil
Here's what you need to know about the new iPad: it is an iPad, and it is good. Apple has named it simply iPad but we have to refer to it as "iPad (2017)" or "iPad (5th generation)" or "new iPad 9.7" because the world is a broken place. I am just going to call it the iPad.
-
+
It is an iPad, The price is reasonable, It's fast
-
-
Screen could be nicer, No smart connector for keyboards, Speakers only on one side
It's hard not to compare this fifth-generation iPad to the tablets that came before it as it's essentially a hodgepodge of hardware and components Apple already had lying around with the latest iOS software slapped on top. But a Frankenstein's monster this is not.

Respectable battery life, Sturdy and lightweight, Beautiful design, Affordable*
The 2017 9.7-inch iPad isn't intended to revolutionize Apple's tablet offerings, but it does go a long way to unifying the product line, and paving the way for the future of the platform —all starting at just $329.
Purchased my iPad (2017) at local store in Utah and am having a blast using it. Wife wanted me to get one first, next we get hers. Hmm... maybe if I can talk her into taking mine I can get the model with cellular.
-
+
Wonderful resolution/clear sound/lightweight/it's an iPad
-
-
could use more power/cellular not included at $329(wish it was)/
I've owned many Apple products dating back to Apple //e, but this is my first experience with an iPad. What this "iPad 5th Generation" has in common with all previous Apples is that special feeling that you are handling very fine jewelry.
Replaced my iPad gen 4 model with this new model, mostly because I wanted more storage space for my apps, games, photos, videos, etc. 128gb is the way to go...plenty of space and room to do it all! ... nad the A9 chip in this puppy races with fast responses to any demands..
Purchased this new Wifi iPad 128GB as an upgrade from my older 32GB iPad 2. Although I only have it about a month so far, it is working well as expected.
Picked up one of these in Gold with 128Gb memory and it rocks! Was a great deal on sale at $358, can't say enough good things about this iPad and SamsClub.
My ancient ipad wouldn't work with the reader that I needed to use for online books for school. The new one works great. Apps that I use for online newspapers also work much better. Overall, it was a vast improvement.
Wow, I thought I had to buy the pro to get a fast and powerful iPad. I was wrong. Basically sakes specs. Love my new Ad.
