All big manufacturers offer devices in the competitive mainstream convertible segment. Acer wants to attract customers with the Acer Spin 5. How does the 360-degree convertible perform?
-
+
precise touchpad, cool & quiet, low price, good display, comparatively long battery runtime
-
-
squeezed keyboard, old CPU, long charging times, microSD instead of SD-card reader, no USB Type-C
There are some "ifs" and "onces" that you'll have to accept about this laptop, like the fact that it performs well once you get rid of the bloatware and it types well if you appreciate short-stroke keyboards.
-
+
well built and decently looking; good keyboard once you get used to it; excellent trackpad; decent screen if you keep it indoors; solid performance; long battery life; more affordable than the competition
-
-
a little heavy; shallow keyboard; dim screen with subpar colors; only a microSD card-reader; bloatware; noisy fan and high operating temperatures on this test model
If you're in the US, you can grab the Acer Spin 5 at a great price right now: at $499 for the entry-level model it's highly competitive for this sort of laptop; at the time of writing you'll even find the 256GB SSD version for that price. It's a bargain.

+
Great screen, good value, strong battery life and top performance for the price

The build won’t impress you much as there's a lot of plastic and some flexing
I like this laptop this is the same product that i want fast reliable
I bought this month ago with mix feelings and now I think I made the correct decision :-) 16G RAM was good for this price. If you are not a big fan of Windows (like me) it is easy to setup Linux with the machine.
So , purchased 2 months ago and hard drive died, All I wanted the dead drive back to at least try to recover the lost data and told that i would have to pay for this privilege ?I get things happen but now left having to reinstall all my programmes, find lost files and "emails" finial got rid of all...
I purchased this laptop a few months ago for uni. I was pleasantly surprised by the specs, display, body and battery life it has for the price. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking around this price range.
Excellent laptop. For the price you are paying it is very well spec'd and has advantages even compared to newer versions on the market by Acer. Highly recommended. Solidly built. Only downside is potentially the smaller hard drive space, but not really an issue in times of cloud storage.
I bought this laptop one month ago. It runs perfect. Everything is really good (RAM, processor, touchscreen etc.) however, there is quite annoying problem. There is to much noise coming out. I have returned it once and got new one but still it has a same issue.
with the latest i5-7200 processor, DDR-4 ram full HD IPS touchscreen this laptop is an underdog.Might be a tad heavier and not so flashy like the ultrabooks but this 2-in 1 delivers on many levels. Buying it at $850 on sale at JB-Hifi, try to find a better value.
