Price Premium, 165Hz G-SYNC Requires GTX 960 Or Better
![]() |
ASUS has built the best gaming monitor money can buy in the QHD resolution of 2560x1440. The 165Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-Sync is absolutely insane for FPS games. This is the monitor you need to ask Santa for these holidays.

G-Sync technology on a 27in, 2,560x1,440-resolution monitor makes a lot of sense for gamers who have a high-end video card in their rig. Something like a GeForce GTX 980 Ti or Titan X is able to push healthy framerates in all games, so whilst the 40-60fps is crucial, having a variable refresh rate...

The price
The ergonomics of the ROG Swift PG279Q like its adjustable height, tilt, swivel, and pivot are among the advantageous features for gamers which most mainstream monitors couldn't offer and it's really good to know that ASUS is actually paying attention to it.

The ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q G-Sync monitor is an amazing gaming monitor that elevates your gaming experience to the next level. No doubt it will be pricey no thanks to the G-Sync module built-in, but if you’re looking to maximise your gaming experience, this is one monitor you can’t go wrong with.

Amazing visuals, Features

ASUS’ hard work has put down a path for the other gaming monitors. We are very excited about all three of the models, which all have their strengths. We do not see any real downfalls from any of the MG278Q, the MG279Q, or the PG279Q.

For a long time, the original ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q was my favorite gaming monitor - and trust me, we have a lot of monitors in this office! That was overtaken by the Acer 144 Hz IPS G-Sync screen but now...we have another new winner.

As just mentioned, this display arrives looking pretty good right out of the box. That AHVA panel benefits from superb viewing angles, plus contrast is good with an obvious depth to dark areas of the image and a rich yet natural quality to colours.

The ASUS ROG Swift range of monitors has delighted us in recent times, with a whole range of products from the super-wide, gorgeous and expensive PG378Q through 4K offerings and up to today's review of the PG279Q.
Since the purchase of this monitor and using various new display port cables, I got the flickering to stop by using the cable that came with my monitor. The cable that came with my monitor was made by Amphenol #E326508 at only 5 feet in length. I needed 6 1/2 feet of cable for my setup.

Great monitor! No bleeding or dead pixels anywhere. Must have gotten a good monitor. Very sharp display and loving the OSD toggle switch when moving around in the Menus. Speakers are okay if your just surfing the web and for basic sounds.

Is anyone getting the same screen black-outs in games? Monitor is 4 days old and when playing Anno 2205 or Doom, every 3 to 5 minutes the entire picture or screen flashes on and off repeatidly. I tried to run the games in compatibility mode but I still get the on and off blank screen flashes.
I'm very pleased with the performance of these LCD panels. I got them in preparation for the arrival of NVIDIA's GTX 1080 series. I'm using 3 of these in NVIDIA surround and powered by a custom liquid cooled X79 system with 3 GTX Titans in 3-way SLI.
if you dont need a new monitor asap i say wait for the next lineup of quantum dot/ va monitors with gsync. this one has been out over a year. Still, it is the best monitor in its class if you happen to want something big fast and now.

Minimal backlight bleed compared to others I've seen., Resolution is good. monitor size is great., 165hz works., g-sync is great., the stand is very stable, I can shake my whole desk and it doesn't wiggle a bit.

1 dead pixel. but the pixel density is great enough that it's hardly noticeable. i'll have to get over my ocd as you need 4 dead pixels for a return., I do have a 1inch backlight spot in the top right corner. it's honestly only noticeable in pure black scenes.
Daniel helped out with our audio purchase for our daught at Christmas.... Michael and Andrew provided expert assistance in buying the gaming computer and monitor for our son. All have been great, including this fantastic monitor (son thinks we walk on water), but it was the staff that helped to make...
This monitor is a beast. Full 2k resolution with G-Sync makes playing games stunning and the performance is second to none. No problems with dead pixels. Highly recommend this
