The Sony BDP-S6700 is the best Blu-ray player on the market today, and it is deserving of our Top Ten Reviews Gold Award for its impressive picture quality, expansive app catalog and ability to upscale video to near-4K resolution. It’s easy to use and set up and can even convert 2D videos to 3D.
-
+
This player has more downloadable apps than others.
-
-
It doesn’t support Ultra-HD discs.

The design could be better, but otherwise the BDP-S6700 is a terrific Blu-ray deck with generous features, impressive pictures and a fast, user-friendly operating system.
-
+
Sharp, punchy pictures, Simple menu system and fast operation, Generous features
-
-
Dull design, Plasticky build, No ITV Player or All 4
![]() |
Budget by price but not by nature, the BDP-S6700’s performance belies its low price tag
-
+
Excellent picture quality, Multi-room support, Good selection of streaming services, Good upscaling from DVD
-
-
Uninspiring design and build, Midrange could be a touch more expressive
![]() |
Selling for a fraction of the price of Ultra HD Blu-ray players, this polished deck slashes support for that new format and instead offers to upscale your 'old' Blu-rays to 4K quality. Souped-up Bluetooth wireless music streaming worked well, but it doesn't play nice with iOS devices.
-
+
Excellent Blu-ray images, Dual core processor, Dual-band Wi-Fi, Great user interface
-
-
Average build quality, 4K upscaling is overkill, Cumbersome Bluetooth, Android devices favoured

Spotless disc playback, Loads of apps, 24p output with streaming services, Easy to use interface

Is it worth spending £150 on a non-UHD player, Build quality is mediocre, No 50Hz output for streaming services
This BR player works fine for BR and DVD so far. I like the Smart TV stuff; Netflix worked OK and Prime streaming will be tried next.I'm hoping the CD and SACD will give me satisfaction in a mid-range system.

Small but full of functions.DVD's look great on 2560 x 1440 monitor with the upconversion.SACD capability is not usually found at this price point.

I needed a small dvd player to fit on top of small table. This dvd player is about half the size of all dvd players I have ever owned.Hook up is easy. It also communicated with my sony 800d television without any issues. Looks great as well.
So far, so good. Nice features for streaming. Just a heads up for buyers, this clearly states this is a 4K upscaling device- not a 4K player! This means it takes your standard and blu- ray discs and upscales picture to near 4K quality.
I like this bluray player because it's small, compact, and can do a lot. I use it to watch my dvds and stream shows. It's quick and easy to set up and super easy to use. The only thing is that it seems to freeze up from time to time.
Great Blu-Ray player. 4K upscaling only weak point. Pixelation evident on some DVDs. Startup very fast and flawless interaction with new 4K Sony TV.

Clear Audio, Clear Picture, Easy Controls
I bought the Sony - Blu-ray Disc 4 K upscaling along with a 55" 4K HDR TV, unfortunately no one informs you that your Sony 3D glasses from your last TV (4.5 years old) will not work with the new products!!!! Not happy.............
I purchased another 3D player but during setup I realized that 1 more cable to run(toslink) was 1 more too many so I looked for a player that had Bluetooth audio to remotely connect to the soundbar. This is for outdoor movie night. As far as the player goes it is a little slow to startup and play.
Difficult to set up and settings lost when switched off. Hard to access apps. Returned as not easy to use
A great item - very please with the player.
