Zoom specializes in making devices that record high-fidelity audio for music and film, and the Zoom H4n is no exception. It's a digital voice recorder that comes with features like prerecord and voice activation, so it excels at capturing simple audio during lectures and interviews.
The item is good but a bit too complicated for me.
The book for the products printing a bit small, good showing what it do. It took me a while to figure it out, because, I never had a SD stick recorder. or how the files work. Once I played around it and figure it out slowly, it was very clear sounding.
I continue to be amazed at the quality and low noise floor of this unit. If you put the headphone on while setting this up you can easily position it in almost a perfect spot while to group is practicing. Getting the CuBase software free was a huge Bonus.
I had high hopes for this machine. I am a filmmaker and travel and sometimes do oral histories. I was hoping this could be my machine for when I travel instead of my Sound Devices 702 which I love, but don't always have room for. I liked the interface and many things about this.
I purchased the Zoom H4N Pro to mainly record practice sessions and then practice my bass playing while listening to the recorded tracks. My bass guitar plugs directly into the 1/4" jack.
