I love this lens, and I still get excited to use it after a year! It is manual so you need to focus manually with the ring on the lens. I don't have a problem with this myself. But the aperture does work with my camera functions. So I can use my dial on the camera to change the Aperture.
I owned a Nikon D810 camera and have several professional lenses which I very much like. Most are auto focus, which this lens isnt. However, focusing is quite easy and smooth and holding this lens in your hand one can tell it is well-constructed and balanced.
I am very sorry that bought this lens!with the first I bought a 85mm milvus, I thought that milvus 21mm will be as good. but it turned out that he was not a good lens (milvus 21mm f2.8 ) I regret very much regret that bought this !
*BEWARE* If you are a US costumer this is a GREY market lens, the distributor is not an authorized Zeiss dealer and Zeiss will not touch it. It was not stated in the description, now I'm left deciding whether to return it since if they do not say it's grey market who knows what else they're hiding!
Among other things, designing a lens is an exercise in balancing factors that are often in conflict. For instance high speed versus available depth of field. Another is build quality versus low cost. My photographic interest is landscape.
I have been renting one of these for a couple of weeks now. Today is the first chance I have had to actually shoot with it due to work and weather. This lens is PHENOMENAL! It holds the same quality has every other Zeiss I have shot with.
