Yongnuo YN585EX Speedlite for Pentax Cameras

I was always leery of off brand for anything that connects to my camera. After my very expensive branded flash failed ( with very little usage) I realized I could buy several Yongnuo flashes for the same money. The Yongnuo build quality seems very good.

Others have commented on the lack of HSS but for this price I don’t expect it. I also don’t expect master control capabilities at this price.

My Pentax AF-540 flashes both have some issue or another so I picked up one of these Yongnuo 585ex to see if it was worth the price. Features are good, has almost everything you'd expect from the Pentax flash.

This speedlight never ceases to amaze me. Spot on P-TTL exposure accuracy and off camera P-TTL. I definitely got more than I anticipated with this flash. I dug out my light stands and started to really have some fun.

This flash packs a lot of features and quality but not without some issues or features not really working.

This flash is a great value. The only issue I had was the auto zoom would not work. However, I went to Yongnuos website and updated the firmware. An easy fix! Now everything works fine.

This is a well built inexpensive unit that works great on my cameras. Inexpensive but does the job. The only thing It lack is high speed sync, but I did not expect it too at this price. 5 starts because of what it offers at such a low pr1ce..

A great unit for the price. The build feels good. Plenty of output. Easy to use interface.

I have a 360FZ that I'm completely satisfied with, save one limitation - the non-swiveling head. For the price I paid, the Yongnuo doesn't have much to complain about. It seems well built, and the head swivels smoothly with positive detents. The metal foot is a move up from the 360FZ.
