I must say with a Yamaha MG12XU mixer ( all main settings @ 0) a pair of the DXS 18 subs (output set @ through / level @ 0db / xover @ 100hz / d-xsub @ normal / polarity @ normal / cardioid @ off) with a Pair of DXR 15's pole mounted a top the DXS 18's.
Like most of you, I spent a great deal of time researching, listening, and comparing the endless sea of powered speakers. I've used JBL, QSC, Mackie, etc, and settled on the DXR15's. After using them last night (4pc cover band), I'm completely happy with them. The throw is outstanding.
We use these to amplify actor's voices for outdoor theater performances. We were tired of hauling around giant Mackie 450s, and got a some of these little guys. Sound (at least for voice) is just as good as the larger boxes, and they weight less and take up less room when transporting.
Read nothing but good reviews for these so purchased on that basis, So far I have only used them twice, Once for a 15 yrs old disco and one pub karaoke on both occasions I was very pleased with the results, very loud and no sign of the limit light!
I up graded from the 2 ev 15s to 2 dxr 15s and wow what a difference I've had the a year now and they have laid for them selfs hands down great speakers a seven year warrant won me over plenty of bass for small to mid range shows I just order 2 18s can't wait to use my dxrs as tops great buy
Still getting used to them, don't seem quite as detailed as my old Peavey Hisys 2's but have more bass and tighter sound.
I researched tons of these active speakers, but was worried about the power ratings. The manufacturers only put in peak wattage mostly 1000 watts. I wanted rms ratings. Yamaha was sensible enough to give me those numbers. Therefore they got the sale!
This speakers are amazing. I have used them for about 5 gigs now and they have not let me down. Love them so far and have no complains. The bass is out of this world. I am planning to buy another pair soon since I do a bunch of out door gigs.
Good speaker works well -
Great speaker with lots of power
