The RX-A860 is a superb AV receiver, great for both music and movies.

Smooth, musical performer, Twin HDMI outputs, Powerful DSP processing modes, HDMI passthrough functionality

Only three HDMI HDCP 2.2 inputs, Messy user interface, Button-tastic IR remote control
The A/V receiver market moves at such a fast pace that it's hard to keep up with the "latest and greatest.". As such, we waited a couple of generations to take a look at a Yamaha AVENTAGE AV receiver.

MusicCAST Integration makes it easy to stream whole home audio, Manual PEQ works down to 15Hz for better bass control, Dolby Atmos/DTS:X support

Ho-hum bench test results
This was a home theater replacement for an 8-year-old Denon receiver that died in a power surge. The Yamaha RX-A860 is much easier to use and customize than the Denon it replaced. Controls make sense.

Great surround receiver for the price. It has a lot to offer. I would suggest downloading the user manual PDF prior to purchase in order to facilitate a quicker setup. Good clean sound.

Power, sound modes, ease if use
Nice sound and features. I took one star off because there customer support is awful.
Got this new receiver with new Definitive Technology 800 surround system. Sounds great, set up was easy, and have my tv, blu-ray, cable box & phonograph all hooked up. YPAO mic made speaker balancing easy. Would have liked a paper copy of manual.
The RX-A860 is the perfect unit for music and video lovers. Let's start with the unit can accommodate up to 6 AV or analog devices in addition to the 8 HDMI connection and 2 HDMI outputs. I use the product CONTROL 4 at my office to control analog and video devices over my WIFI network.

Easy setup; GUI interface allows you to select ONSCREEN option on the remote to configure the entire unit. Excellent sound and Video quality. 2 HDMI outputs allows for video and audio in separate rooms or if you have two monitors in the same room.

Have not found any Con's to this unit other than sometimes the AirPlay does not connect on the first selection.
Hello All, I just had one issue, no sound and had to reboot by unplugging the unit. After rebooting all is normal. Any other issues with this unit?
I tried a Yam 381 and thought it sounded cheap, so tried the Denon 2300. Again, this didn't sound right with the monitor audio speakers i had. So blew the budget and went for this. Much better sound quality than the Denon, but i suppose its a few models up from the 2300.
Great sound decoding
