So pleased with this purchase. This Yamaha sounds fantastic. My previous home theater receiver was a Denon AVR S920W which is also great, but the Yamaha really shines with music.
I'm an audiophile on a budget. This amp replaced a creek destiny for music and movies. For 2 channel listening I still use an external dac; this is the Yamaha's weakest link. The optical inputs also have a ~100 ms delay that can't be remedied!
This unit is amazing out of the box, great sound and and control of devices.
I really love the different programs that you can put in for the sound of the music. The microphone setup that it uses to set the speaker's is awesome. Plenty of power!
Listen, this was a sweet pick up. I bought the Sony before this and that was no way up to par with this yamaha. And I control it using my Alexa Cube tv.... Amazing
Does everything I need in a modern receiver . Would recommend it to anyone looking .
I bought this as a replacement for an absolutely terrible Denon unit and so far I have to say I am pretty impressed. This was my first Yamaha unit and I was hesitant to buy it but after some research and asking around I decided to go for it and I don't regret it one bit.
After several weeks of researching and comparing specifications, reviews, etc...I finally decided on this receiver to replace my 29 year old Pioneer A-V receiver. At the same time, I also upgraded all of my speakers, and added a few additional to take full advantage of all channels from the Yamaha.
I purchased a much more expensive Pioneer amp about 4 years ago and had nothing but trouble with it. It kept locking up and had to be reset and got worse over time. I had that amp repaired two times and then Square Trade wouldn't repair it the third time because the cost of another repair would make...
This is the 2nd one for me. Had another Yamaha (step down) that died after 2.5 years. But we have a bad habit of leaving it on all the time in a cabinet that is not well ventilated, so I was willing to give Yamaha another try. Warning, the Alexa integration claims here are a bit exaggerated.
