I have drives from WD that still run perfectly after 5+ years so trying out the 8TB was a no brainer. I have only had it for about a month and it runs great. I use it as a second backup and for that price you can't go wrong.
Solid product that is not too bulky. It measures 6.7x5.5x1.9 inches. For a USB 3.0 enclosure using a 3.5" HDD it reads and writes at about 165MB/s. The WD software is quite easy to use and allows for password protection to unlock the drive as well as scanning utilities to detect bad sectors.
6TB = 5.6TB exFAT of storage for Mac or Windows compatibility
NO LED or visual power indicator
Bought for a HTPC/Plex server. Work as soon you plug it. After few days I look at the temperature and it was running a bit hot nothing major. Around same time a bad/weak sector was reported by Hard Disk Sentinel. But one bad/weak sector is nothing major as a problem still perform very well.
Large capacity and quiet nice looking external hard drive
Run a bit hot, After few days one bad/weak sector was found
WD My Book 4TB External Hard Drive is the ticket for backup and storage. It comes with some software, but is ready to go plug and play right out of the box, no need to install software unless you want to.
Great hard drive. I bought this to use as a backup and to replace a 4gb model. It was easy to start backing data up, WD continues to provide reliable products.
Needed something for backing up my PC, this one did it, set to do it every other day so do even have to think about doing it, and it's done. A great deal
I use WD external drives to back up all my clients data.
Every WD USB drive I've owned over the last 10 years or so have been awesome. Reliable, consistently reliable, fast and well designed. They have always been a reliable way to backup for me, and have collected about 8 drives and will continue using WD USB drives.
Rugged case, and really fast moving hdd. Much quicker than the seagate drive i have of the same capacity
Just what I needed for my Xbox one
