The WD Red 10TB is perfect for those looking to add capacity to their NAS and need a fair amount of performance to go along with it.

Strong large-block sequential read score, Great 8k 70/30 results, Good price to capacity ratio

Had the lowest write scores on a few benchmarks
I got the 10TB version. It comes with 256MB of cache, so the performance is quite good even though the rotational speed is low. The thing I like best about this drive is the noise level. I have had WD Black drives in the past and they are LOUD.
I have two 4-bay JBOD enclosures with eight of the WD Red drives. Four drives have been in use ever since the 10TB size became available, and four more in use for several months. I am entirely satisfied with this drive for this purpose.
I bought this as a replacement drive for my old WD MyCloud which, btw, you're not supposed to be able to replace. So far, it is working fine 24x7, cool and without issues. Had no problem installing it, even when using a cheap USB-SATA adapter before moving it to the NAS.
Western Digital is well known in the community on having some of the best support and easiest RMA process. I have had to return several WD drives over my years and they have won my support as a customer. This hard drive is a great price to storage ratio.
These drives are amazing. I have used 5 x 2 Tb WD reds in a Drobo for about 5 years without a failing disk. I recently started buying the 10 Tb versions to fill a NAS I have. Haven't had any issues like drives being DOA or anything. Always perfect.
For the ones giving it a 2 stars, are your reviews even fair? WD RED drives have been stable and running for years in our location and my impression of this brand - Red with a Plus is awesome.

Compare to the EFAX version, these are 7200rpm drives and the speed is double compare to its predecessor. Quick tests were done using CrystalDiskMark7 with first two tests reach over 200MB/s.

No complaints yet.
Bought a caseload of earlier generation 4TB Reds may years ago that were decent speed, mechanically sound and reliable (had three out of 96 fail in 4 years of continuous use). Have had 4 out of twelve of the current generation fail in six months.

Relatively inexpensive per GB. Could probably make good doorstops if you hammer one end into a wedge.

Brutally, painfully slow, hot and noisy.
This is my first of WD's "EFBX" NAS drives. Installed one in identical configuration as other Western digital EFAX and EFRX NAS drives, and Seagate Ironwolfs. All the other drives run in the high 20's to low 30's during extended read/write use, this one hits 41C. Idle temp is around 35C.

No Read/Write errors after 20hours of continuous read/write use.

Runs hotter than any other NAS drive I've ever used.
Go for the NAS drive with 64MB of cache, will work better in your NAS environment because it uses CMR technology.

uses SMR and not CMR. If a drive fails and your replace it with a new one, it may never rebuild because it uses SMR.
This drive fit my NAS with no issue and is being used to replace a failed 4TB unit. I will need to slowly upgrade the rest of my drives to this one so I can have more storage. Drive works great and showed no issues in my system.
