Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1 Lens (Black)

When Cosina, the owner of the Voigtlander brand name, first announced the availability of Nokton 50mm f/1.1, the rangefinder world as well knew came crushing down. Prior to Cosina surprising everyone with this lens, the only game in town for Leica bayonet cameras was Leica itself with the Noctilux...

This Voigtländer 50mm f/1.1 is a bad time. Optically, it is inferior to every other 50mm lens for LEICA , and it's so big that you can't see through much of your viewfinder. If you must have an f/1.1 lens, go ahead and get one, but the LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50mm f/1 is far superior optically.

I enjoy the feel of solid metal , the function is top notch. Yes it is manual and as I work with the lens I love it all the more. Can focus down to the finest point and wide open I have no softness or discoloration. Once you know the range you are working in you can rapidly shoot with the Nokton.

I use the Nokton on my Leica M240. I have three other Leica lenses, but ever since I acquired the Nokton it's become my main lens. Simply beautiful rendering, unlike any other lens I have.

Love everything about this lens. Creamy bokeh and slight vingnetting. Heavy and robust build.

I purchased this lens to narrow my current lens view, 35 mm and 24 mm Leica lenses. Since money is tight I could not purchase a Leica lens, but found via research that this Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1 lens to fill my needs in every way.

This lens was significantly out of calibration from new. From what I've read this is not all that uncommon. That makes it awful to use on the M9, it is hard enough to focus at f/1.1I recently got a new M Typ 240, and things are a lot different.

Mounted on a Leica M body. Great lens for low light, focusing is easy, it can be accurate, colors run colder and a bit unnatural only when compared to high end Leica glass otherwise you won't notice it.

This lens needs understanding and technique. Just like driving a 500HP sport car, it's not for everybody. It can be sharp and it can be low light, it can have shallow DOF and have great bokeh but it takes time and understanding.

this was my first leica camera a m240 and wanted a lens to fimilurize myself with the system. since then i have bought seveeral leica lenses and they are far better.
