Like the drowning man who successfully swam 90% of the way back to shore, the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO lens almost gets there but not quite. In fairness, I was able to capture some attractive images with this lens, and the ability to work at exaggerated macro is exciting to be sure.

The most important fact is such that the Laowa lens is able to provide sensationally sharp images up from the maximum relative aperture and is a unique optical instrument with 2:1 reproduction ratio which allows you to rise to levels unavailable to standard 1:1 macro devices.

Good lens. Would be good if aperture coupling would work with Nikon in low light.

I'm only an amateur but I wanted to get myself a proper macro lens and after many hours of research I decided on this one. The 2x magnification makes capturing tiny detail a breeze, and it can also focus to infinity so I have also used it for everyday pictures.

I have only had the lens a short time but my first impressions are very favourable. The build quality is lovely with precise focusing. The working distance is good which worked well in my first attempts at photographing spiders. The extra magnification beats the opposition hands down.

Excellent macro lens at a great price. Images are VERY sharp. I have the Canon EF version with auto aperture. Makes focusing easier with lens wide open. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to go close.

A great lens with lots of flexibility. UV filter very necessary to protect lens. I am very impressed with the results.

For a price like this you will not find a better macro lens! With a 2x magnification this lens can take some truly incredible photos whether beginner or advanced. If you're new to macro, be warned it's a pretty steep learning curve and will take some getting used to but it will be worth it.
