I've worn out two of these tripods and just bought my third. I love it for its functionality and compactness. It's intuitive to use and very quick to set up. The first two were bought about six or seven years ago.
The tripod is so easy to set up and use. I take it traveling because of the lightweight and portability. The ease of setting the camera on uneven ground with the Velbon leg adjusting system is so convient. It fits into my carry-on camera bag. One of the best accessories I have ever bought.
Purchased to use with a Lumix P&S, but strong enough to hold DSLR with all purpose zoom (18250). A little complex to open & tolerances on leg sections very tight, so take time & care.
I used to be a pro photographer. For travelling, I need the most compact, light and decent height. Product seems sturdier than Oben AC-1410. Oben leg lock mechanism broke off within one week. This Velbon is pretty easy and fast to open and close.
Have yet to take it on a photo shoot, but have opened it up and checked it out, shown it to other photographers. The entire thing with the head weighs only 2.6 lbs, which is great for a tripod that reaches 61 in height.
Own it for 3 months, one rubber where you twist to extend the leg keep spinning. That leg is dead, you can not extend/open it.Also specs said it can handle 6.6 Lbs. Its a lie. My camera is 3 Lbs and I can not use the ball head vertically.Manfrotto rated at 4 Lbs hold stronger than that.
Riding on my motorcycle I see a lot of beautiful scenery that has to photographed. This tripod is the BEST for my travels with my DSLR. Its compact size makes it easy to store in my sidebags. Its so lightweight and extends so high, its incredible.
I wanted a light weight small tripod I could easily fit in my backback that would support my D7100 and a 16-85. This tripod is very light and packs very small. It is lighter than some carbon tripods that are smaller and more expensive.
I haven't gotten heavy use out of it yet, but after a road trip with a few sessions involving quick setup and tear down, and this dropped into the top pocket of a Kata 3N1-35 PL, I was sold on it. As was another photographer there, who bought one on the spot after seeing it work.
I wanted something that I could carry in my photo backpack. This tripod is very compact, and it's quick to set up. The only drawback is that it's a bit heavy, I expect to feel the difference after walking around all day with it.
