Tascam HS-P82 8-Channel Field Audio Recorder

Overall an excellent recorder, you cannot record eight tracks (only four) if you go above 24 bit 96 kHz but not a dealbreaker for me, at this price point nothing on the market can compare with this units pristine preamps, ultra low noise floor, mirror recording feature and high quality construction...

This thing is heavy and kind of tank-like but it has top tier amps and converters which many people have said are better than the sound devices recorders which are nearly three times the cost of this unit. As long as you don't mid the weight, who cares?

Used and heard the sound devices. Was about to go for the bigger model but something kept nagging in the back of my mind about the specs on the Tascam and of course like all of you that are either replacing or supplementing your actual mobile recording rig as an engineer , or a location sound...
