Yeah, folks mention it can be noisy (somewhat) but for the price you get a really useful device, built in phantom power, flexible inputs, design works well under DSLR but have also used as a field mixer plugged into a broadcast level camera - though the connection is unbalanced.

best investment yet, if your wireless mics fail, this thing hasn't yet, very good backup, you just hook it up to the DJ station with the 1/4 inch connectors (not included) and hit the red button to record all the sound coming through the mics

I bought this to replace my Tascam DR-40D and I'm immensely glad I did. I'm often operating a one-man crew and having the ability to mount this straight to the camera makes this worth the price alone.

I really like this recorder. Mounted it under my Nikon 5500, connected two shotgun mics to it. The 3.5 mm cable connected the DR-70D to my Nikon without issue. Recorded 14 ten minute interviews and all went well. For the price I would highly recommend.

I have recorded many interviews, including for state government, many short films and one feature and this device has been great clean sound and enough monitoring adjustments to get the right signal boost and noise reduction. Get the 6 battery extender to mount on top and you last all day.

This little guy may be small but it gives you a ton of control over your recordings. It's small profile keeps it out of the way, but is right there when needed.
