Use it a lot in the studio during practice for capturing. Have used it live as well. Has a lot to do with placement if using the different mics. You can capture nicely off the board with the XLR's as well.

The Tascam DR-100 is an impressive unit. I'm a independent filmmaker and needed a portable solution for recording audio seperate from the camera. I use a DSLR, and given the limitations they have with audio (AGC, etc), it became clear that if I wanted to achieve clear sound, I'd have to look towards...

To be put simple, its simple and easy to use--Its like having a high functioning microphone that records on you at all times--whether your home, on the road, or in the forest--its quality in the fullest--Im at a point in my musical journey where quality is vital--simply put, this is Tascam and...

This is simply the finest portable recorder that I have used. I have used Sony, Yamaha and other Tascams. This one beats the lot, for clarity of sound, ease of use, compactness and neatness.

This kind of products doesn't come to my country so i took the risk to buy it without make a few tests before buy it. It was a mistake, i have a Sony minidisc(mz-rh1), with Sony ecm-ms907 stereo condenser mic, and i made a comparation between products and the result was that minidisc is much better...

A little larger than I anticipated but that is the only demerit. Works very well. I use the cardioid (directional) mikes built in and have made dozens of live recordings. Plenty of settings give the user full control.

Tascam-dr100 digital portable recorder is not good as expected. Recording level is alway too low. (Lower that my old dr07). Included sd 16gb is useless and I lost all of my recorded data.

Tascam usually makes decent products. This is not one of them however-which I didn't immediately realize. The SHORT: it either crashes, shuts off, or has a file record error at the worst times-do not trust the DR-100 if you need a reliable device to record sound when it counts.

I got the Tascam with accessory package because it was worth it just for the 8GB card. I will skip over the DR-100 since you can find more reviews on that elsewhere. Battery, remote, and SD card all work perfect.

I purchased the DR100 to record classical musicians on-location as a smaller and lighter replacement for a much larger hard disk recorder and a pair of external mic preamps. I was hoping that the built-in XLR inputs and +48 V phantom power would be all I'd need for quality 2-channel recordings.
