If you want a lens that will serve both as an ultra wide zoom on full frame as well as a wide to standard zoom on a cropped sensor, then this lens is unlikely to disappoint. Used on a tripod for landscape or Architectural work, where stopping down reduces the variation in quality across the frame,...

  • +

Good control of distortion, Exceptionally sharp in the centre., Overall good performance, Well designed lens cap.

  • -

Above average fall-off at wide edges., Hood not totally effective

The Tamron SP AF17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical [IF] Model A05 is an excellent performer, producing sharp, contrasty images with little or no distortion.

The Tamron 17-35 mm seems to be a quite good option. An affordable price, a splendid image quality in the frame centre along with medium or good results in other categories and only one slip-up, connected with the weak image quality at the edge at 17-24 mm – all these results allow us to recommend...

  • +

sensational image resolution in the frame centre,, low distortion at focal lengths higher than 17 mm,, very low coma,, astigmatism quite well-corrected,, there’s no problem with vignetting on APS-C/DX,, good build quality,, smaller dimensions than those of competitors,, quite affordable price.

  • -

weak image quality at the edge of the field, especially in the 17-24 mm range,, chromatic aberration from medium to high level,, too big geometrical deformations at the widest angle,, a lot of mis-autofocused results.

The lens is quite light when paired with the Nikon D750.I bought the lens primarily for real estate photography and it gives me exactly what I was looking for. Sharp photos and great colour. The variable aperture is not a problem at all as I shoot from f/10 to get everything in focus.

A couple reasons why I bought this lens. Lightweight, wide angle, great IQ and 77mm filter. Ive looked at other WA lenses but really wanted something that would work with my 77mm polarizer and ND filters, when Tamron announced this I was very excited and so far it hasnt disappointed.

I dont know...bought this lens, loved this lens. Crazy sharp images, good color rendition, compact and light weight...and yet...I traded it in 3 weeks after purchasing for the 24-70mm f/2.8 G2. It wasnt so much the focal range but the fact that it wasnt f/2.8 throughout the focal range..

I had a Nikon 17-35 f/2.8 purchased used in 2013. I compared this to a possible new 16-35 f/4 but decided to go with the former After 5 years of squeaky focus and sloppy zoom ring I felt it was time for a change. The Nikon was ok but was very soft on the edges and in the corners forgetaboudit.

So here is the thing. I love this lens. The build is fantastic (it is a zoom so it does have an extending barrel (by about 1/2").It is tack sharp at all apertures in the center of the frame. Wide open, at 17mm it is a TAD soft in the corners....

Recently moved from DX (D300) to FX (D750), and have tried several samples of Nikon and other brands of consumer grade FX wide & mid range zooms. Up until now, nothing tried has measured up to the image quality standards that I've grown accustomed to with my DX set-up.
