Note: the product image above shows the Canon variant of the lens The build quality of the lens is pretty decent but the finish doesn't quite feel as nice as Tokina AT-X or Sigma EX. As you can see in the product shot above the lens extends a little towards the long end of the zoom range.
The Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di Lens has been discontinued. Please enjoy the standardized review results available for this lens.
If you want a lens that will serve both as an ultra wide zoom on full frame as well as a wide to standard zoom on a cropped sensor, then this lens is unlikely to disappoint. Used on a tripod for landscape or Architectural work, where stopping down reduces the variation in quality across the frame,...

Good control of distortion, Exceptionally sharp in the centre., Overall good performance, Well designed lens cap.

Above average fall-off at wide edges., Hood not totally effective
The Tamron SP AF17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical [IF] Model A05 is an excellent performer, producing sharp, contrasty images with little or no distortion.
My fascination with this lens has also a different source. I travel a lot and often attend different photographic events. As a keen landscape and astrophotographer I don’t like heavy devices.

sealed construction,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the APS-C/DX sensor,, lack of any serious problems with longitudinal chromatic aberration,, slight lateral chromatic aberration,, not especially bothersome spherical aberration,, low vignetting on...

significant vignetting on full frame,, noticeable distortion on the wider end of the focal range,, slow, audible autofocus.
The Tamron 17-35 mm seems to be a quite good option. An affordable price, a splendid image quality in the frame centre along with medium or good results in other categories and only one slip-up, connected with the weak image quality at the edge at 17-24 mm – all these results allow us to recommend...

sensational image resolution in the frame centre,, low distortion at focal lengths higher than 17 mm,, very low coma,, astigmatism quite well-corrected,, there’s no problem with vignetting on APS-C/DX,, good build quality,, smaller dimensions than those of competitors,, quite affordable price.

weak image quality at the edge of the field, especially in the 17-24 mm range,, chromatic aberration from medium to high level,, too big geometrical deformations at the widest angle,, a lot of mis-autofocused results.
A couple reasons why I bought this lens. Lightweight, wide angle, great IQ and 77mm filter. Ive looked at other WA lenses but really wanted something that would work with my 77mm polarizer and ND filters, when Tamron announced this I was very excited and so far it hasnt disappointed.
Have been playing with it for a few days and have no complaints. Image quality on par with other g2 lenses and loving the build quality and small size.
Super light wide angle lens but providing amazing sharpness and color fidelity. A great travel lens taking up little space or weight in my camera bag.Lens allows use of filters (77mm). Build is not equal to Tamrons SP series but is more than adequate and its performance is outstanding.
The lens is quite light when paired with the Nikon D750.I bought the lens primarily for real estate photography and it gives me exactly what I was looking for. Sharp photos and great colour. The variable aperture is not a problem at all as I shoot from f/10 to get everything in focus.
Specifically bought this lens for real estate photography and it works like a charm. Wide and very sharp (I mostly shoot at f/8-f/111) and it is perfect for the job. It is very light and balances well on my D750.
