The TCL 5 series is a solid choice if you want a Roku TV with sleeker styling, just don't expect a better picture.

The affordable TCL 5 series has a clean, minimalist look that outclasses most budget TVs. Roku TV delivers the simplest, most comprehensive smart TV experience on the market, with more apps than competitors, including support for 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision.

Vizio's E series has a superior picture for a similar price. Image quality with HDR sources isn't significantly better than non-HDR.
The TCL 5-series is a budget-friendly 4K TV lines that offers surprisingly impressive color performance for the price.

Inconsistent backlight, Limited port selection
I have had the TV for over 2 years and very happy with my purchase. I love the thin metal black frame -- it's not plastic like a lot of the TV's. The picture is awesome and hasn't disappointed me yet. If I had to make a complaint I am constanly chaging the batteries in the remote.
I bought 3 of these and have had nothing but issues with the power. Seems to be a super flaky power connection (not sure if from the cord or tv input), but it's clear from a lot of trial and error that these super common reboots are from a power-based design flaw. Would never buy TCL again.
Very frustrating! Have been happy with this television overall, but a year after purchasing the HDMI port has stopped communicating fully with the cable box, so most of the time when I go to watch TV (not Netflix et al), the sound comes on but the picture stays black.
We now have TWO of this brand and this size TV (we have another same brand, but larger as well). I am a big fan of the ROKU TVs, they are easy to use and to set up! The quality is great and once you set up one with all your info, if you get another you sign into ROKU and all your other apps...
We haven’t had this tv but a little over a year and half. We loved it, picture quality is awesome and ease of use is wonderful. But not it glitches no matter what we’ve done, unplug, restart the screen will not stop glitching. Very upset with quality
Started flickering with various horizontal lines at bottom right at 2 years of ownership. It should be criminal to sell such garbage.
Greetings All, I bought this on July of 2019. Used it as a computer monitor. Today, after less than two years, it has lost vertical sync. The screen rolls, even using the internal Roku features. As I depended on it, I need a new one for working at home. So I bought a higher rated display LOCALLY.
I don't use the smart features, and refuse to link this thing to my Wifi. I've had it for a year now, and the picture quality is great still when it works. I use it as a PC Monitor for gaming, and the main downside i have is when the DolbyHD thing kicks in, it makes the picture look worse.
I bought this tv a year and a half ago and the picture suddenly started glitching. After exhausting all troubleshooting efforts (turning it off and on, unplugging, factory resetting, updating, etc.) the problem persists. I contacted both Roku and TCL. Roku told me it was a hardware problem.
I bought this after it was recommended by the Wirecutter. It has started to what I call flicker, I tried unplugging it, reset to factory settings (which was a mistake as I then needed to set up everything again). I tried turning it on without being connected to anything and it still did it.
