Have had one for almost a year now and I regret buying it. Visually, it's a pretty good tv. In fact the only reason I'm buying another tv so soon is to get HDR and a display with more "pop" to it's colors (the display is sharp and up-scales well, but the colors aren't the best compared to those I've...
Bought because it was on sale and one of the cheapest 4k TVs at the time along with PS3/4 compatible capabilities. What a mistake. Great at first, but the software and firmware updates have killed the TV. As described by all other 1 star reviewers, I too share buggy android software issues.
Picture quality is good if you ignore the small dark patch in each corner. I don't notice the patches while watching movies/tv unless I'm looking for it, but it's more noticeable when casting computer screens where there is often a uniform background color.
As a long time Sony customer, I didn't hesitate to purchase this TV, my first "smart" TV. In store, visuals were great and sound acceptable without additional audio equipment. Unfortunately, this TV has been an great disappointment.
Good picture, but software is a major pain in the ass, always updating when you don't want it to, sometimes not recognizing HDMI inputs for a while, trying to push you to use its (crappy) native apps all the time & track everything you're doing; A nightmare to use.
TV has a great picture, indicative of Sony's quality. If I could only see the picture and watch the TV when I want to, it would be a good TV. Unfortunately, it restarts itself any time I try to do anything on the TV.
This TV lasted about a year and a half before it simply would not turn on one day. Just long enough for it to be outside the manufacturers warranty, and to need a $250 service call to even begin to figure out what's wrong.
I have had this TV for over a year now. I am very happy with the picture and the hardware seems to stand up well though I hung it above my mantle and have never touched it so no chance of user error with the hardware. I realize this is an older tv now and as such it has some input problems.
First I would like to say that this is the first review I have written for any product. With that being said, let's begin. I was excited about this product and was giving Sony a try after many years.
The tv has become almost non functional. Netflix movies dont stream properly, remote controller only intermittently works. Is it because its an android tv? I am so disappointed at Sony right now. Who can I contact? The problem seems to have worsen in the last fw update.
