They may be close to 30 years old, but the comfortable fitting Sony MDR-V6s are arguably the best-sounding headphones for under $100.

The Sony MDR-V6 closed-back, full-size headphones sound great and are comfortable to wear for hours at a time. Their sound is also very well-balanced and crisp -- they sound great for the money.

With its coiled, pro-style cable and lack of an inline remote/microphone, some will find the V6s less mobile-friendly than more modern headphones.

Despite its age, the Sony MDR-V6 really is a headphone that does very little wrong for the asking price. It is well-built, comfortable, and isolating enough to compete with the best ‘modern’ studio and DJ headphones.

There’s a reason that the Sony MDR-V6s have been around so long, and it’s that they are fantastic headphones at an equally good price point. For anyone with a music-making hobby, they are probably the best headphones you can grab for under $100 for studio monitoring, and that’s invaluable.

This is the first pair of studio headphones I've ever used, and the audio range and clarity is much better than anything else I've ever listened to. They are comfortable to wear, have a generous cord length, and seem to be of high quality.

These headphones are such a good buy. There really isn't anything wrong with them. And the sound quality is really good, they simply beat all other headphones that are in the $200 range, even though these cost only $100. Just buy these. And whatever you do, never, ever buy beats.

My v6 is getting close to 10 years old. I think one side might have a blown driver. The pads are flaking. I just placed an order for genuine sony replacement pads so I have something to use for field day. I hooked them up, for the first time, to my kenwood 480 today. They sounded decent.

These headphones are exactly what I need for the quality and clarity I demand. In my opinion they are up there with other brands costing twice as much!

This product could cost 3 times and much, and still be highly competitive in sound quality with other maufacturers such as Grado and Sennheiser. I compared these V6s with the SR80 and Sennheiser HD600 Models, and quite frankly, for the price I paid, I thought the V6's held there own against the...

I had seen a large headphones used by my favorite singer. In her, the design is Hello Kitty and it is color red. I like something like that. I want big headphones were the bass I playing in full blast and the only thing I will hear is the music.

I am so upset with this over-priced headphone. I was excited with it for a short while and then I realized that the wire is weak where you plug the headphone into the audio equipment. The music gets cut off on my left ear and I have to juggle the stupid wire around.

These are probably the best headphones I've ever owned, which isn't saying much -- so take this review with a grain of salt. All in all, I've really enjoyed the V6's. In my opinion, both the bass and highs are clear, detailed, and sound great. The mids are ok, and the soundstage is rather poor.

These are pretty much the standard in studio monitor headphones. If you want to make sure your audio is good, you need clean, uncolored headphones so you know what you are hearing is spot on.
