Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G2 Telephoto Zoom Lens

This telephoto zoom lens for use with Sony A-mount cameras and adapters sports an improved silent focusing motor that should focus noticeably faster than its predecessor and a new Nano AR coating, which promises to reduce ghosting and flare.

This full-framer boasts topdrawer materials, solid construction, flawless optics and fast, silent autofocus. The street price, $1,600, is high-end, too. Made for Sony's Alpha 900, it scales up to 105-600mm on bodies with APSsize sensors.

This is an excellent lens, that performs well, and is priced well enough to be considered good value for money too. The build quality is very good, although it is a little strange that it is not weather sealed, as you may expect lenses pitched at this level to be.

I bought this to use with my A7rII via the LAEA3 Sony Adapter wanting a long lens. The pair function flawlessly providing exposure information and auto-focus. This is an A mount lens and requires an adapter to use on an e-mount system.

This is the best 70-400mm lens in the market. The focus is sharp even with full aperture at 400mm ,no another lens can compare. The G2 is much faster AF and less hunt . The contrast , sharpness and bokeh same better than the previous one too.I highly recommend this lens for serious wildlife and bird...

This is an outstanding lens. I could not be happier with the reach and quality. Excellent AF speed and there is very little hunting to focus even in the golden hours. Sharp to 400mm, sharp wide open, brilliant color. The lens hood is very light weight and very flimsy.

After working with this lens shooting rodeo action for the past week I can say that it is extremely quick to focus on my A99ii and seems very sharp across the whole range focal length range for a such a versatile zoom lens. It is a bit heavy but not too bad.

I was very surprised at how well it worked in low light situations.

This was a great purchase for nature and wildife work, and for sports too. I am so impressed with the quality of the images. Sharper than some of my old Leica lenses. It is a little heavy for hand holding so I recommend a monopod. You will love this lens.

Very sharp and made of good materials. But, it's a bit heavy, as expected.

I bought this lens to replace my 70-200 G2 and was hoping it would be sharp at full focal length. very pleased with results. Its great to have the extra length. I was using a 1.4x converter on the 70-200, so that put me at f4, same with the 70-400.
